Cottage Pudding (Cake for Strawberry Shortcake)

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
GREASE AND FLOUR YOUR PANS!!! It just says grease in the instructions. I had to make a second double batch because it stuck to the both pans. BUT ~~~This was so good! I doubled the recipe because I was going to do more of a double layer cake presentation with strawberries and whip cream. My son wants it as his birthday cake with frosting (not a berries and whip cream kind of kid). It did take longer than the time it says, but then again, I had to lower my oven temp by 25 degrees because I was using darker non stick pans.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
These were really good. I did add about 1/3 of a cup of chopped almonds and should have removed 1/3 of a cup of oats so they were a little bit crumbly-but that was my fault not the recipe. I also used Bing Cherry Jam from the Ball canning recipe book with 1/2t of almond extract added to it. Great flavors. My husband said he didn't care for them, though he had no problem eating them. He said he didn't like the cherry flavor-whatever, he likes it good enough in his yogurt. He just isn't into fruity desserts.

Baked Ziti with Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
THis was really good. It is so much better than the boring Ziti I have been used too. I didn't do the sausage part because I didn't have any pulled out, but it was still good!

Cinnamon Ice Cream

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
I loved how creamy and thick it was. My son and I like the cinnamon flavor, but it wasn't a hit with others in my family. I have taken the recipe and not put in the cinnamon and used it for vanilla ice cream and with that added 2 Dove chocolate bars when I took it off the stove for chocolate ice cream. So good! Uses less cream too, which is more expensive than half and half.

Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
I made this according to directions except just as I was cooling it I added 2 chopped up Dove candy bars. THIS WAS SO GOOD!! Everyone loved it. I am making it again today along with the cinnamon ice cream. I also made it without the chocolate and made the mistake of switching the measurements for the cream and half and half...it didn't set up as nicely as the chocolate where I did it correctly. Lesson learned...It was still great tasting though-it just froze harder and took longer to set up in the freezer.

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
YUMMY! I don't have a bread machine... I just mixed the dry and added the wet and used my kitchen aid mixer. I was in a hurry so I microwaved the buttermilk to 120 degrees. I used oat flour instead of whole wheat...I did have to add almost a cup of extra white flour but it was raining out so my air was extra moist.

Classic Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
This was good. I am not normally a fan of pot roast but this didn't have the typical smell while cooking and was tasty. I didn't add the potatoes because I only had 2 and wanted them mashed for the gravy. I also used regular stewed tomatoes cause I didn't have Italian but added some oregano and thyme.

Grilled Lemon Chicken

This was really good! I didn't have dijon mustard I used spicy brown and I also used thighs and legs instead of breast. I have it in my recipe box and will make again.

Rosemary-Scented Pork Loin Stuffed With Roasted Garlic, Dried Apricots and Cranberries and Port Wine Pan Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
This was awesome. I didn't do exactly as written. I used garlic powder instead of 16 cloves garlic. I did 3 slits instead of just one. I used Riesling instead of port. I will not go out and buy ingredients when i have perfectly good substitutes. I did this on a 2.5 lb roast too rather than a 8lb. We had seconds and thirds! I served with white rice this was so yummy!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
This was really good. I had a lot of a spiral ham left so I went ahead and made the broth from it. I also added green beans near the end and I used evaporated milk and to thicken the soup even more I added 2 packs of instant potatoes (great thickener too) because I didn't want to add more flour and butter (only used 5T each). Also my ham was so incredibly salty that I didn't add any salt to this recipe at all-or the stock when I made it. I ended up with about 10qts of soup when all was said and done.

Meat Loaf Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
We love this! The only thing I do that is different is I do not use a pie crust. I put it in a pie pan, meat first, then corn, potatoes and top it with cheese.

Italian Style Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
YUMMMYYYY! I used meatloaf mix instead of beef, 2 cups of cheese, and fresh plum tomatoes skinned and diced and real garlic instead of garlic salt. This was really good!

Mexican Rice II

MY family didn't like this dish though I thought it was fine. I think they are not used to cumin and don't like mexican. I served it with Fajitas.

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
This recipe was awesome. The only change I did was squeeze 1/2 lemon in it to a add vitamin C so I could can it in a water bath afterwards. It was so yummy on our creamcheese pie (from here) and we had leftovers on ice cream weeks later.

This recipe was great! Good to use up the ground turkey that I "thought" was more healthy than ground beef.
