Restaurant Style Beef and Broccoli
I made this tonight and hubby loved it. I didn't add the sugar and switched rice wine vinegar for the sherry. I made a different recipe for lunch and didn't like it as well, so I decided to mince the ginger and garlic and add them to the meat marinade. Foolishly I added 3 cloves of garlic, I wish I stuck to one. I used broccolini and carrots (I didn't have maybe 1/2 lb of broccoli) instead of broccoli, I wish i had gone to the store to get the 1.5 lbs of broccoli. Hubby was happy to have extra sauce but I wished I had more broccoli.

Maple Banana Bread
First let me say I hate it when people change a recipe and then rate it poorly. But I did change the recipe however I do love it. I replaced the butter with coconut oil (I'm dairy free), vanilla extract instead of maple extract (didn't have any), replaced milk with almond milk, added 1/2t salt and substituted whole wheat pastry flour for the white flour. I also ditched the sugar and just added a cup of walnuts and about 3/4 c of dairy free chocolate chips and to top it off I made muffins (filled tins 3/4 full baked 20 minutes). These aren't real sweet but that's fine, I wanted a muffin with a lot less refined sugar (so I only had what was in the chocolate chips) and ended up with a much healthier muffin that still is a treat and doesn't taste too healthy.

Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies
I just made these today after my mom and uncle recommended them. I switched out 1/2 butter for shortening (It will help the cookie not spread and not be so crispy it's how I always make my cookies) and added 1/4t salt because salt should be added to sweet desserts (not to mention all other cookie recipes have it!). Personally I am dairy free so I diidn't even try them but my kids love them. It's a nice switch up from the usual chocolate chip cookies I make, well I guess, but again, I didn't try any.
