Where did the Summer go!

OMGosh!  It seems like it was just last week I was whining about the cold winter weather.  Last winter was mild but I do dislike having to go out into the elements.  This summer was amazing.  We have been busy setting up housekeeping in our new and newer campers.  I have enjoyed every minute and frustration.  We just get to the point where we can just hang out at the camper and the season is almost over.

Our camper is up in the mountains in WVA.  Weather sets in early, so they close the part of the campgrounds where we stay.  Which is fine, except that means no water for December, January and February.  I don't know why it bothers me, working during the week and then heading for the campgrounds doesn't leave much time for getting the household chores done.  So, into the breach I will be going.

I actually love this time of year.  I like football Sundays and fixing soups, stews and cassaroles that just don't fit in the summer menus.  One of my favorites is beer cheese soup.  The last time I made it, Darryl ate it but really didn't care for the sharper cheese that I used.  It did make the soup a little grainy.  I plan on making it again soon using a less sharp chedder mixed with the traditional American staple, Velveeta.  We are getting a TV for the camper so we will be able to hang out just a little later on Sundays to watch football and make soup.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hope everyone is safe and sound.  Be grateful for what we have because there are so many that don't have anything.

About Me
I am 53 the mother of 1 daughter (grown and moved out on her own) and engaged to Darryl. We are avid motorcycle riders and each own Harleys! We have two dogs - Peanut 12 years old a yorkiepoo and our new "baby" is Mac - He is 2 months old and adorable. He is a yorkie. Both have carriers for the bike and goggles, so they ride whenever we do. Take me, take my dogs or I don't go! UPDATE: We got rid of the motorcycles and invested in a new pickup truck and camping trailer! WOW! Now I am trying to come up with meals to fix while we are camping. So much fun!
My favorite things to cook
Anything - I love the challenge of trying to create a new dish or just the comfort of the "old" dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday Meals - same thing every year. But it really is worth looking forward to. Thanks to my Mom and Dad.
My cooking triumphs
So far I haven't lost anyone to my meals. I guess my biggest joy was the year I made Thanksgiving Dinner for my family and extended family for the first time. My Grandmother, was a home economics teacher and Granddaddy was just a wonderful person. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the best part....It was all done and hot/cold at the same time. Yeah!
My cooking tragedies
Lots, too many to mention here but lets just go with "no one died" or refused to try something else I made.
