Well, since I last posted, we have gotten rid of the motorcycles and have purchased a camping trailer and truck.  We have always liked to camp but tent camping was just getting to be too much.  So now we have a "hybrid" trailer.  23 feet of living space and the beds plop right down on the ends of the trailer.  Works really well for us for right now.  Oh, since we have purchased the trailer and taken it camping I don't think we have set up the beds and awning once that it wasn't between rain storms.  Is this God's way of saying gotcha?  We love it and hope to continue for years to come.

On one of our first trips, I tried to make campfire baked potatoes.  My granddad and have made these before and they were great.  Obviously, I didn't pay attention.  The first 1/2 in around the potato was charred.  Once you got through the char, the potato was actually pretty good, it just wasn't enough for a meal.  My fiancee was very understanding.  I think I'll stick with the oven or grill.  I haven't really tried to many meals that weren't leftovers from during the week but as I keep plugging along I will keep you posted.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Labor Day Weekend.  For those of you that work, holiday or not, Thank you.  You either protect us, treat our illnesses or ensure our sanity.

I just ran across your blog. My husband and I live in our 21-foot fifth wheel full-time, and when I want a vacation, we rent a hotel room...LOL! I write a blog called Life in an RV http://lifeinanarv.blogspot.com and I am cooking my around the world. I would loe to have you check it out. I agree with campergramma, over a fire, use cast iron...it works wonders. I can't wait to read more of what you write about your adventures in campfire cooking. Peace.

About Me
I am 53 the mother of 1 daughter (grown and moved out on her own) and engaged to Darryl. We are avid motorcycle riders and each own Harleys! We have two dogs - Peanut 12 years old a yorkiepoo and our new "baby" is Mac - He is 2 months old and adorable. He is a yorkie. Both have carriers for the bike and goggles, so they ride whenever we do. Take me, take my dogs or I don't go! UPDATE: We got rid of the motorcycles and invested in a new pickup truck and camping trailer! WOW! Now I am trying to come up with meals to fix while we are camping. So much fun!
My favorite things to cook
Anything - I love the challenge of trying to create a new dish or just the comfort of the "old" dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday Meals - same thing every year. But it really is worth looking forward to. Thanks to my Mom and Dad.
My cooking triumphs
So far I haven't lost anyone to my meals. I guess my biggest joy was the year I made Thanksgiving Dinner for my family and extended family for the first time. My Grandmother, was a home economics teacher and Granddaddy was just a wonderful person. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the best part....It was all done and hot/cold at the same time. Yeah!
My cooking tragedies
Lots, too many to mention here but lets just go with "no one died" or refused to try something else I made.
