I'm a graphic artist working for a dotcom in Seattle, WA. I once earned a living as a cook working in restaurants and also cooking for workers in canneries and logging camps in Alaska. I started out as a banquet cook at Horatios (now defunct) in Seattle.
My favorite things to cook
At this point in my life, I'm looking for anything that's quick and easy, but still appetizing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom is a great cook and I've brought a few of her dishes into my repetoire at home. One favorite dish at the holidays was always "zesty carrots" made with horseradish.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I cooked for 350 people without a hitch was a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
My biggest tragedy was on my 21st birthday when I made the mistake of having my first legal drink before starting my shift as a banquet cook. When it was time to serve dinner, I went to the oven to take the potatoes out and immediately felt the absense of heat radiating from it. I had forgotten to turn it on.
