Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2013
Way too sweet! Good thing I only did half the amount . In fairness though, I substituted the white sugar with organic turbinado cane sugar and a little brown sugar, u did not have any nuts left so I added raisins instead and I followed the reviewer 's advise on cream of tartar and replacing some of the flour with oatmeal flour that I grounded on my way my nutri bullet. Next time I will definitely cut back on the sugar and add some nuts. I also have a little tip: freeze the batter after you formed them into balls and bake them only when you need to. I bake about six to nine cookies on my way my Breville toaster convection oven and it's always good to have warm, freshly baked cookies for snacks, play dates , movie night, desert ... Yum!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Must reduce amount of salt or wait to add salt in the end - salt to taste. It would be a waste to toss it out after 8 hours of cooking! I had to correct the saltiness by adding some lemon juice and sugar just to rescue it!

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
Didn't change any of the steps or ingredients. The key is to undercook (strictly al-dente) the pasta. Perfect, simple meal for those busy week nights. If you have the ingredients stocked, it is even better!

Mine came out a little dry- maybe next time I'll add some more water or did I put too much bread (3 pcs); does this recipe need eggs perhaps? It taste good though. I am open for suggestions on how to improve it next time I'll make it ! Thanks!

Brussels Sprouts with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
I steamed the brussel's sprout instead of boiling- taste great and it was not bitter! I will definitely use fresh parsley next time. The mushrooms definitely had to be sliced. I also thought a sliver of sliced, roasted almonds would really dress this up and bring out the gourmet taste!!!!

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
Do not cut the apples too thin- it will get mushy and will look like an apple sauce. It's nice to see some slices intact for texture and presentation. A perfect side dish for just about anything! Marvelous idea!!!!!

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
Instead of beef, I used 3 ground meat combination of veal, pork and beef- mostly available in some supermarket like Morton Williams ( previously Turco's). I added some worcestershire sauce with the A-1 steak sauce. Need to cut back on salt otherwise my picky , "eweee what's that " boys loved it! Very good indeed! Make some baby red potatoes seasoned with a little rosemary, salt & pepper and coat with olive oil , stick it in the oven with meatloaf plus some roasted sliced zuchini- a complete balance meal. I also put apple sauce on the side. What a combination!!!!
