I have tried for a long time to make my chili recipe into one closer to what my hubby remembers eating as a child, and always failed. He thought what was needed was for it to simmer all day, which I did, but to no avail. When I made this one, and did simmer it all day because I cooked it so early in the day, he raved about it. He actually loved it! Only minus the beer: I was going to sub a mixture of juice and Sprite and chicken broth, but left it on the counter accidentally. Still excellent in the family's eyes and soupy enough like everyone likes.
