Chicana

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2004
Very good. Easy too, just get in on the stove and let it cook. We used a whole onion/green pepper, and omitted the water. Also added salt/pepper to taste at the end. (Had a 1/2 can of mild chiles in the frig, and wanted to use that up too, so I tossed them in there.)

Easy Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
Very good, very easy! So quick to assemble. Made this yesterday and stuck it in the freezer for an Easter lunch dessert for today. It was a hit. Used 2 whole pkgs of ice cream sandwiches to fill a 9 x 12 pan twice. Had to eat half a sandwich for each layer - otherwise used them all up. Also chopped up a Butterfinger bar to sprinkle on each layer of whipped cream (2 bars, one for each layer). The Butterfingers were my daughter's request. Tasty! Thanks for the recipe.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
Very very good. We made it in honor of Popcorn Day today. We kept some and took some to my husband's workplace for them to share. I used canola oil to prepare my popcorn for the caramel corn and I won't do that again. I could taste it. Maybe corn oil next time? That's not part of the recipe, just a tip on the preparation of the popcorn.

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
We've used this recipe a lot, with pecans, almonds, or walnuts. We all prefer the pecans, but the other nuts are a nice change sometimes. I usually add some cinnamon and nutmeg. I also usually toast the nuts slightly and let cool before coating and baking. After baking I also let them "dry out" in the oven a while with the oven turned off. Thanks for the recipe.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
I needed something to decorate a giant cookie for the Fourth of July and this frosting worked out great. I mixed up half a batch and then colored it and decorated. Easy to work with. Thanks for the recipe.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
Used this several times just haven't reviewed it yet. I really like this blend of flavors. So convenient to mix together and keep on hand. Just used it tonight to season some mexican rice to go with dinner. Very good. Thanks so much.

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
This recipe was great. I needed something for dinner tonight and this was quick and tasty. I did add a touch of sugar for the kids sake and used onion powder instead of onion salt, but the rest was pretty much as written. I'll use it again and again I'm sure. Thanks.

Easy Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2004
Really good! Doubled it just to use up a full jar of roasted red peppers. So glad I did! I did reduce the lemon juice as some suggested and I sauteed the minced garlic in a little olive oil to mellow it.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2004
Yummy, yummy. Just made it for a rainy afternoon snack for my girls. We all munched it down. We didn't even save any for daddy - just have to make it again for him sometime :). Thanks for the recipe!

Beefy Chinese Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
Yum! I halved the beef, cabbage, carrot and onion, but kept the rest of the ingredients the same (accidentally). Turned out with a good amount of seasoning (but maybe a bit too much oil - my fault since I was supposed to half it). I should have made the whole batch, there were no leftovers except two measly dumplings for lunch the next day!! I tried to pan fry a few right after boiling, but that didn't work so well. I'll probably need to boil ahead, chill, and then pan fry before serving. I served them with "Oriental Dipping Sauce" and "Quick Chinese Style Vermicelli," both from this site, on the side. I also added a few drops of hot sauce to spicen up the filling, may do more next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Bermuda Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2003
Very good. Needed a last minute dressing for a bag of baby spinach I had and this was perfect. Used less sugar, as some others suggested, and balsamic vinegar (because we were out of cider vinegar). Tasted wonderful. Thanks.

Butternut Bisque

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2003
I really like this. Just made it (doubled the recipe), family hasn't tried it yet. Used chicken broth, half the allspice. I figure we can adjust our seasonings at the table. From what I tasted already, yummy!

Baked Curry Chicken

We really like this recipe. Last time I had houseguests I made a bunch of this. Since it is so good as leftovers we enjoyed it for a couple of meals. Thanks.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
This recipe came in the Daily Dish today and sounded good with some creamed chicken on them for dinner. (We have some left over Roast Sticky Chicken Rotisserie Style.) They came together quickly and easily and tasted great. I had butter flavored shortening, so I used that and they were perfect. Thanks for the recipe!

Spinach and Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2003
Yum. Have made this quite a bit in the summer. Just hadn't gotten a chance to review it. Our favorite dressing to make it with is Newman's Own Balsamic Vinaigrette. I also have used ravioletti rather than tortellini and of course it tastes just as good.

Asian Beef Skewers

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2003
Just made this again last night and always love it! We have used this same marinade on chicken and beef. I found I didn't like having pieces of minced ginger on the meat, so went to using ground ginger instead. Tasty, tasty, tasty. Thank you.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
Very good. Made for Christmas dinner yesterday. I used the traditional method as I don't have a bread machine anymore - it died. I have made this recipe in the past using the bread machine. Both ways yield great results. My 8 wedge-cut rolls turned out large - next time I may cut more wedges out of the circle. Also the leftover "crescents" cut in half lightly toasted with butter and cinnamon sugar are so tasty! My daughter and I enjoyed some of the leftover rolls like that today for a snack.

Chocolate Revel Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2003
Very good. Made them for husband to take to work. Even leaving out some ingredients because of the "assistance" of my 2 1/2 year old. They were still so yummy. My husband's coworkers raved about them. Thank you for the recipe.
