The baking soda wash made for a great flavor and made it so that I could watch them brown in the oven which was great but I was dissapointed that these were still more like bread sticks for me. Maybe it was my own fault for putting the ingredients in the bread machine and setting it to dough cycle. I will make this again but wish that there was a nicer glazing on them. I think maybe I will try also putting on an egg wash. I also thought that this had too much flour. At first I figured it was because they were pretzels and that the dough should be quite dense. Now I think I agree that it is too much and will try 3 cups as others have suggested.
