Coffee Cake Supreme

I think the bake time is too long. The cake seemed too dry on the bottom. The top with streusel was still moist and that part was good. If I make it again, I will cut down the bake time. But, honestly, I doubt I will try this recipe again.

Lisa's Jerk Chicken

It was really bland! It made a ton of marinade and I froze half, so I may try it with boneless chicken breasts and marinate for longer. I did about 10 hours and you could hardly taste the flavor of the marindade. Hopefully without the skin and 24 hours of marinating, it will absorb more flavor? This recipe was a big disappointment.

Homemade Focaccia Bread

This did not taste at all like focaccia bread. The bread tastes fine, but needs more flavor. The texture and flavor of focaccia are not there, so if that is what you're expecting, you will be disappointed.

Steamed Green Beans with Roasted Tomatoes

White Bean Chicken Breast Chili

There was something missing in this. I made a batch for a crowd and it was pretty spicy and lacking depth of flavor. Since it was for a crowd, I made second batch with less cayenne and chipotle pepper to mix in and tone down the spices. I also ended up adding diced tomatoes and a green pepper to add flavor and color. I am debating between 3/4 stars, but my husband liked it, so I'll give it 4. But, I won't make it again...

Spicy Grilled Chicken

I made this for a party and got lots of compliments. I marinated for about 7 hours and served with mango salsa. The chicken was juicy and tender.

Italian Sausage Lasagna

I doubled this so I could freeze a pan. I used hot italian turkey sausage and whole grain lasagna, added an 8 oz can of tomato sauce and some Oregano & Italian seasoning. I also added some parmesan to each cheese layer instead of just the top. My husband said it was the best lasagna he's ever had! I think the "World's Best Lasagna" from this site is better, but this recipe requires far less prep time! This is definitely a keeper.

Whole Grain Waffles

These are nearly guilt free waffles and so good! Some other reviewers said you don't need syrup, which I scoffed at. However, they are pretty good plain and just a little syrup goes a long way! I also tried almond butter in place of syrup for some extra protein and it was great. Like others, I substituted oatmeal for wheat germ because I didn't have it. This is definitely going to be my go to recipe!

Plum Blueberry Upside Down Cake

I added about a 1/4 tsp of cinnamon like other reviewers mentioned. I baked it for about 55 min and I still don't think the center was quite done. It tasted delicious, but didn't look as good as it tasted. If I make it again, I will put the plums over the whole top and then just put the blueberries underneath that. This is excellent served warm with ice cream!

Chocolate Trifle

Great and super easy. The only change I made was to add Heath bits to every layer and top. It's really rich. I may try this again using sugar free pudding, low fat condensed milk and lite cool whip to make it a little less sinful to eat!

Quinoa and Black Beans

This was great. I used 1 can of diced tomatoes w/ chilis in place of 1 can of black beans. I think it would be way too many beans otherwise. If you are a fan of Chipotle's burrito bowls, try this quinoa topped with fajita style green peppers, onions and chicken, along with some salsa and sour cream. It makes an excellent meal!

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets

The glaze is very tasty. I didn't feel that it was too sweet like some others said, but it's probably just a personal preference thing. Very good and VERY easy with ingredients I had on hand. I'm sure I'll make it again some time.

Quinoa with Carrots and Raisins

This is pretty good, but I would call it more sweet than spicy. If I make it again, I would cut down on the raisins (maybe 3/4 cup) and add more walnuts. They make it delicious! I added all the pumpkin pie spice, despite other reviews, and I wouldn't want to cut down on that at all.

D's Famous Salsa

This was one of the easiest homemade salsas I've ever made. I drained the cans of tomatoes and used 2 fresh jalapenos instead of the chiles. I also used a little more onion than it called for. Just pulsed it 3 or 4 times and it was a perfect consitency! It definitely tastes like restaurant salsa (not sure if that is a good or bad thing) but I got a ton of complements on it when I served it at my superbowl party.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

This was the best Turkey I've ever had. It was my first time making a Turkey for Thanksgiving and I got a ton of compliments on it. I did a brine first. Rubbing the mixture under the skin was gross, but I tried not to think about it. Turned out moist and wonderful!

World's Best Lasagna

I don't know if I'd call it "world's best" but it is pretty darn good! Plenty of sauce. I agree with other reviewers that the sauce would be great as a sauce with any pasta. Yum! The sauce makes this a time consuming project, but it's completely worth it!

Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup

The spices and seasoning in this soup really add great flavor to a classic. I modified this by adding some frozen peas and corn and used whole wheat egg noodles to make it a little healthier. I did use more noodles than it called for because I'm not a fan of brothy soups. I accidentally grabbed the wrong bottle out of my cabinet and added a little allspice before I realized it, but it stilled turned out great. Maybe a stellar secret ingredient?

Garlic Chicken with Orzo Noodles

this is a great start that i've made several times. Definitely boil the orzo in chicken stock and load up on veggies! I've added mushrooms, peas and diced tomatoes. Used some italian seasonings and more garlic to spice it up.
