Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
These are so good! I quadrupled this recipe for a family get-together and ended up having to whip up another quadruple batch halfway through because we ran out. These taste just like mini doughnuts! I followed the recipe to a T and they were just perfect.

Crisp Lemon Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
These are wonderful! I wouldn't say mine ever turned out crisp, but the flavor is fantastic. Like many others, I used all butter, and I upped the lemon extract to a tablespoon and added a tablespoon of lemon juice. I also took a reviewer's advice and put a lemon juice and powdered sugar glaze on top. Yum! These never last more than a day or two in our house.

Sourdough Starter I

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2010
Yay! I also had this starter a while back but let mine die as well. This is perfect just the way it is. For the reviewer who tried it three times and couldn't get it to firm up, this is supposed to be a really runny starter. It's not going to thicken up; just try using it for bread and you'll see how great it is.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
This is a GREAT recipe! The only change I made was using 3/4 of a cup of quick-cooking oats that had soaked in milk for about 15 minutes as half of the flour content; this makes it just a bit more moist and a little better for you. My family loved them, and this is now going to be our default muffin recipe.

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
These are pretty good. I soaked the oatmeal in equal parts milk for about 15 minutes before I added them to the recipe, and the pancakes were moist. As other reviewers have said, these do burn really fast, so use low heat and keep a close eye on them! My kids liked them too, so I'll make them again as a more healthy pancake. These aren't my very favorite, but for a healthier breakfast, they are a nice surprise.

Cranberry Upside-Down Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
This recipe is absolutely delicious! My step-dad, who hates cranberries, ate 1/4 of the cake himself! I followed the recipe exactly with no changes, and it turned out perfectly. I've definitely added this to my recipe box.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
I made this almost exactly how the recipe said; I only added a little bit of vanilla. These were fantastic! As a previous reviewer said, I only stirred these until they were just mixed, and made sure not to overstir. These are the best pancakes I have ever had! My very picky daughter ate 2 and wanted more, and my husband raved about them! These will definitely be the go-to pancakes for us from now on.

Apple Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
This is a great recipe! I did substitute brown sugar instead of white, but that's the only change I made. The crust is fantastic! It is sticky, so I just spread it in the sheet pan by hand and it worked great. I will definitely make this again!

Mushroom and Potato Chowder

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
This is very good! We always sautee our mushrooms in olive oil and garlic before we put them in the soup, but this is an excellent recipe.

Great recipe. It is a HUGE batch, so I halve it at minimum. Very tasty though.

Spinach Noodles

This is a really great recipe! You can also substitute the spinach for almost any other pureed vegetable, and it works so well! We will never buy pasta again.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

These are so good! We put half whole wheat flour in, but that's just so they're a tad healthier. These pancakes are phenomenal, and have replaced our old favorite recipe.

Love love love the chocolate cake. It is moist and chocolatey and delicious! I didn't really like the icing all that much, but this cake is perfect without it!

BAKER'S Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
These are without a doubt my new favorite cookies. My husband hates desserts, but he loved these! I used half whole wheat flour and chocolate chips instead of chunks, but those are the only changes I made. These are perfect!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
These were amazing! I took one reviewer's advice and hand mixed everything, and I got the brownie texture I'm used to. I always like everything with extra chocolate, so I put chocolate chips in the butter while it was melting, which also adds a little moisture. Awsome recipe, I'll be using this again!
