Blueberry Shortbread Bars

I loved this recipe, the bars were a great hit for Christmas! I didn't use the Chinese 5 spice powder; I usually won't go out and buy a special spice if I know I won't use it again! I used the suggestion he made in the video, which was to use a mixture of cinnamon and nutmeg. I'm glad that I watched the video first! Only thing, it seems like there was too much butter. I may decrease the amount the next time I make it. I can't wait to try it with cherries!

Chef John's Chili Chocolate Cookies

I made this recipe and followed the directions. They had a really nice chocolaty flavor but to me, they just aren't chewy enough. I just didn't get the raves I was expecting. The recipe was expensive and a lot of work. I wouldn't know how to make a cookie chewier. Any ideas?

THE Pasta Salad

I loved this pasta salad! I made some small changes, not really changing the original too much. I couldn't find 100% grated Swiss, and I really wanted to use Swiss because it is low in sodium compared to other cheeses,so I used Trader Joe's Swiss/Gruyere blend (yummy!) I doubled the ham to 4 ounces ( I couldn't see using 2 with all the other ingredients! and I used Orecchiette Italian pasta which is the closest I could find to seashell. This pasta sticks easily and I will definitely add oil to the water next time. I didn't even wait the four hours required and ate it right away! It was still delicious and I will definitely make this again.
