Jalapeno Corn Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
This was great . . . sweet, spicy and it managed to NOT crumble! I did substitute canned green chilis for jalapenos. There is NO way that my household would survive jalapenos - although I could!

Farmer's Strata

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
Made this for someone to take to work on New Years Day morning. Everyone loved it. I made a variety of changes. Take the recipe as a place to start; use what you have on hand; cook as indicated. Frequently I use "recipes" for the BASIC ingredient proportions, pan size, and cooking time. This was one such case. Had lots of left over "stuff" and it came out GREAT!

Frozen Chocolate "Souffles"

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
YUMMY! Do not forget to press down the crushed cookies and the "souffle". They may not come out looking quiet as good - but the taste awesome. This is super EASY and has great presentation value. They need to be removed from the freezer about 60 minutes before you plan on serving. Do NOT make them any bigger - they are VERY rich.

Mam's Black Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
I made some changes (surprise!, lol). I wanted the blackberries to be the star. So, double the blackberries and no raisins. Fake buttermilk (who keeps buttermilk in the fidge?!?). 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and cloves and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. The spices are there - but in the background and supporting the flavor of the blackberries. I used a 9x13 glass pan and cooked for 55 minutes; PERFECT.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
So, I LOVE peanut butter! I took the advice about the nutter butter cook crust. I used the whole package and a stick of butter and a 9 x 13 inch pan. I made the peanut butter filing as directed and found it didn't really taste much; let alone taste like peanut butter. So, I melted 2 cups of peanut butter and put it in the bottom and then had some chocolate which I melted and put over the peanut butter. I put the whole thing in the fridge to cool and then put the peanut butter filing in . . . YUMMY.

Lemon Tabouli

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
The ingredients are a good start; the proportions didn't seem right to me. For me, this dishes main ingredient should be parsley. So, 1 cup bulgur, 2 bunches parsley, 1/2 bunch mint. Next time I would do even less bulgur. LOTS of salt and pepper; pinches are NOT ENOUGH! With my changes is GREAT and would make again.

The Ultimate Brownie

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
Exceptional! Based on other reviews I made a few changes: 2 cups sugar and 1 cup Splenda; 5 eggs instead of 7; almond extract instead of vanilla; 3/4 cup cocoa poweder and 1/3 cup heaping chocolate chips; 3/4 lbs walnuts; 9x 13 pan sprayed with Crisco butter; 35 minutes in the oven. Light; yet still dense and fudgy. Speldna doesn't melt well so expect it to be weird. I added the butter/sugar to the dry ingredients and then added the already beaten eggs after; adding the chocolate chips and the walnuts at the end.

Extra Extra Rich Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
I was not happy with how this turned out. I MIGHT be able to use this for something like a pie crust. With so little to be cooked while baking there is NO change in texture before and after cooking.
