Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
This is not as good as my Mother-in-laws use to be. I really miss Lou's potato salad.

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2012
This was so good. Mike and I ate extra helpings. Liked that there was still a little bit of crispness to the cabbage. Mine had got totally limp after 1 and a half hours of cooking. The flavor was delcious with the Saurebraten I made for dinner.

Turkey Potato Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
More like scalloped potatoes with chicken than the tetrazzini recipes I'm use to. But, still very good. Should probably cook about 50 minutes before removing the foil. And, I used 3 cups of Swiss cheese and the entire container of shaved parmesan and 2 jars of alfredo sauce. The cheeses got so good and crusty. The flavor was truly excellent. Just seemed strange with NO pasta. That's the reason for my 4 star rating. Flavor is excellent for a winter night. Made for the first time December 30th, 2011.

Old-Fashioned Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
only used 4 potatoes. Next time I will make sure to use all 6. Nice flavor even without the seasoning it called for. Did have whole peppercorn to crush.

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
Next time just use one package of spinach and see if it turns out creamier like the recipe we have at Providence Place

Round Steak and Gravy I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
very tender when cooked the 2 hours. Added a lb. of fresh mushrooms and more would be okay too. Used dry soup mix instead of cream of mushroom soup. Delicious!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
very good. I think I could have added 1 or 2 more potatoes and it wouldn't have been to thick. Very good flavor on this cold Winter day. Mike liked it.

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
I made for Mike and the kids tonite. Everyone seemed to like. Did it in 2 pie dishes with the top crust only. May try to do a double crust next time. Also, cooked just 1 potato in the broth before doing the butter and onion step. was good I have to say. December 8, 2010

this is exactly the recipe that Providence Place uses. I will do with the addition of the Lipton soup mix and cream of mushroom. Hope it turns out well.

Chicken or Turkey Gyros

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
I really liked this. I did follow the suggestion of tossing the chicken WITH the dressing before serving rather than just topping the meat with it. I had no lemon for the juice or zest so, I subsitituted margarita mix and this still tasted so good. Mike really liked it too. Had the fresh spinach and a chopped tomato. We had it in the pita bread but, putting in a tortilla would be good as a wrap too, probably. Will make again.

Pasta Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
Made this soup to go with my roast beef sandwiches. So good. Did exactly as recipe said and had plenty for 6 servings. Need to stir up the contents so everyone gets plenty of pasta and beans. (Did use the 2 cans of beans rather than a cup and a half.)

Autumn Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Turned out wonderful for the Labor day gathering. Followed one reviewer's suggestion of draining it before serving so it didn't just sit in the gooe. Was so very good. The walnuts were a must. Always add them!

Hummingbird Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2010
Made for Kay Lyn's birthday. Turned out great. Used a little pineapple juice in the frosting and sprinkled the sides with coconut and then the top got finely chopped pecans. Looks like it came from the Cheesecake factory and would cost at least $5 dollars a serving. Very impressive.

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
My substitutions. I used beef broth instead of the chicken. And, since we had no basil I just used a shake of Mrs. Dash. It was great for this damp October day.

Warm Apple Buttermilk Custard Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Cindy made this after church (10-4-09) and Jill and I had a piece before we hit the road to drive home. The flavor was delicious but, we cut into it too soon. Next time it definately needs to set up some. Excellent taste!
