Ham Cheddar Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
This was a huge success. My kids went back for thirds and there was only enough left for my lunch the next day. I did make a few additions as suggested by others. I added a can of creamed corn, two cloves of garlic and one jalapeno pepper. I will be making this again already a week later by request from my entire family. Thank you so much for sharing!

Oatmeal with Apples

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
Very good but too sweet as others stated. I opted to try the recipe as written out of fear that my kids wouldn't eat it if it wasn't sweet. Next time I will subsitute half apple juice and half water.

Southern Style Banana Split Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Fab!!! I made this for church and it was a huge hit. I left off the nuts due to allergies and drizzled with fudge sauce, other than those minor changes I followed the recipe. I doubled the recipe and there are NO leftovers. Thanks!

Mediterranean Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
This was just ok. I had two kids that ate it and two that hated it. My husband and I both agreed that it was good for a change but not something I will make often or anyone will request again. Rather than garlic salt I used fresh garlic, other than that I followed the recipe exactly.

Banana Split Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
I made this for church and doubled the recipe so there was one for each table. It was a huge hit, everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. This is a definate keeper. Next time I will decrease the sugar in the crust, I used both plain graham crackers with cinnamon graham crackers since I didn't have enough plain. The hit of cinnamon added to the flavors. The only changes I made were to omit the walnuts- I have a nut allergy. I used homemade whipped cream- so much better than store bought. I also drizzled fudge over it since I had a huge can in the fridge. Best desert I have made lately. Thank you so much!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
I wish I could give this more than 5 starts. I have tried tons of rice pudding recipes over the years and couldn't find one I really liked. This is the only recipe i will ever use for rice pudding from now on. The only change I made was adding cinnamon to it when it was finished cooking and since it was for church the next morning it was served cold. I prefer it cold and thicker. Better than store bought! Thanks

Ginger-Lime Chicken with Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
I loved this but my family didn't. I was one of the few things my husband said "don't ever make this again". The kids all ate it but complained. I especially loved the coconut rice. I may make this for myself for lunch but not for my family. I thought the flavors blended wonderfully and wished they had liked it as much as I did.

Most Excellent Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
These were quick and easy. I was looking for a way to use an extra loaf of italian bread so thats what I used. I did have to doctor it a little the first ones were too bland. I added garlic and a pinch of salt to the cream cheese and since my husband and two of my kids won't touch alfalfa I used green onions instead. I don't know about excellent but it was different and everyone enjoyed them.

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This was wonderful. I've been trying to get away from processed foods and this is a definate keeper. It was so quick and easy, my younger two children helped and all four kids ate without complaining. My husband is the real test, he is picky and he said these were much better than store bought. We made extra and just stored them in plastic freezer bag for lunch the next day.

Fun Cookie Suckers

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
I have four kids and babysit six more on the weekends. I was looking for something different and this was it. I followed the recipe exactly and they were so much fun. We have made them four times now and each time get more creative. My older two roll each color out in a snake, lay them side by side then roll them together gently like a snake then coil to get the alternate colors throughout the entire cookie. They really come out beautiful. The younger ones just take a bit of each color lay them end to end then roll out the snake and coil. After four batches of dough yesterday and tons of cookies later, I was getting tired. They went to bed and I rolled each remaining color into a log, put them together and put them in my cookie press. I put it in the freezer to chill while we did the bedtime routine afterwards. I just pressed them out and baked them in flower shapes, they came out great too and very colorful. They all love them and we will continue to make these. Great idea, thanks!

Honey Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
My children only eat their father's cornbread so this was a real test. Ordinarily, they won't even try anyone elses. I got my 10 year old to try it first and she loved it so the other three reluctantly had a piece. It passed with flying colors, they all loved it and I had no left overs. I added a little extra honey but other than that followed the recipe exactly. This is a definate keeper.
