Best City Chicken

I prepared just as the recipe states using all pork, and was instantly taken back to my childhood. I haven't had this since growing up in Toledo. I wonder, is this just a regional dish? Not adding to my once a month plan as I try to limit fried foods, but for that once in a while comfort dish, it's excellent. Thanks!

Mom's Best Pork Chops

I've been making these for years just as this recipe states and everyone loves them. You do have to adjust your cooking time depending on how thick the chops are, but we tend to like them thin and a bake time of 30 minutes is usually about right. I always have to make extra because they are even better cold the next day! They do take a little time, but are well worth the effort!

Slow Cooker Carnitas

Great flavor! I followed the recipe with two exceptions. I browned the roast first to give it some color and omitted the bay leaves because I didn't have any. Served with warm tortillas, salsa, and mexican rice. It was delicioso!

Cinnamon Rolls III

These were good, but not great. They took a really long time, even when using the bread maker. Sorry, it just took way too much time to go through the dough cycle, rise, and then rise again after slicing and before baking. If I really want homemade, maybe I'll try making the night before as some others suggested, but the cinnamon rolls in a tube are SO much faster, and taste about the same.

Ramen Cabbage Salad

Just had this at a church dinner and it was the best salad there. Was told the recipe came from here and was made as written. The Ramen noodles were not crunchy, but I didn't know they were supposed to be and it was great as it was. I'll try it that way when I make it myself.

Mexican Bean Salad

I followed the recipe, omitting the green pepper b/c I only had red, and used navy beans instead of cannellini. Sorry, but this was way too vinegary for our tastes. I took it to a camping pot-luck and had quite a bit left over. I felt the cilantro and cumin were wasted since the vinegar overpowered everything else. If I try it again, I'll tweak to use less, or a different kind of vinegar, increase the cumin, cut back on the salt a bit, and maybe add some minced jalepeno instead of hot sauce to give it some depth of flavor instead of just the heat. As is, it was just OK for us.

Famous Pork Chops

Tried this baking method instead of my usual slow fry in a little olive oil. Should have known not to mess with perfection. The flavor was there, but coating turned out mushy, especially on the bottom. My family missed the delicious golden crunch.

Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup

I've made this many times and while it does take some time, it is worth it. Instead of peeling and seeding tomatoes, I just put the blended mixture through a sieve before adding back to the pot. You can also add some cream before serving for a milder taste. Great with a savory bread and salad! It freezes well too. Great recipe, thanks!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

This is a great marinade and sauce recipe. I made double and reserved half to pour over after grilling. Next time I will half the salt, but will definitely make again. I mixed 1/4 cup of the left over sauce into turkey burgers the next day and this added great flavor as well as making them very moist.

Amazing Fried Pork Chops!

I have been making these for years and it's a family favorite. Great as written or if you use plain breadcrumbs you can change it up with your own preference of herbs and spices. Thyme, rosemary, paprika, almost anything works well with these. I've even made them using taco seasoning. (Omit the parmesan) I make a sauce by warming some sour cream with a little lemon juice and taco seasoning and serve them with rice and a vegetable. Delish! If you don't have bread crumbs, crushed crackers work well, just cut down the added salt. Depending on the thickness, once you brown the chops, they don't need much time at all to finish in the oven. I place them briefly on paper towels first to soak excess oil and don't use any additional oil on the baking pan. This is pretty much a no fail recipe as long as you don't over-bake them. IF you have any left over...they are great cold the next day! Thanks for posting the recipe!
