Sweet Potato and Apple Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
Wonderful soup! THRILLED with this recipe as a base. I omitted the cream and the lemon and used only one tablespoon oil. No cheese needed. It was so good!

Best Black Beans

Simple and excellent... Even better with fresh lime juice.. Also, the garlic and onions should be sauteed first..Otherwise, this is a flawless recipe!!!

Breakfast Burritos

Reviewed: May 14, 2010
Super great idea.. I used chicken breakfast sausage from trader joes, sauteed diced peppers onions and mushrooms, and made a big scrambled up bowl of eggs, cheddar cheese and veggies... But I wanted to go a step further.. the only wraps I have are low-card tiny ones, and I thought I could make burritos, and toast them all pretty.. Well, at least they tasted good.. Used Mrs Dash table blend AND Mrs Dash Extra Spicy and this was yum yum...

Lentil Chili II

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
Prep is easy, setting up this dish to cooking is VERY easy, reading all the reviews: scary... Currently cooking this "chili" and when I told my husband I used chili powder in the lentils, he got very nervous.. And I am nervous... And I read all the reviews and have already doubled all the spices, and added garlic powder, onion powder and celery salt! I also added Sriracha Chili Sauce because someone recommended this (and I had it) We LOVE chili, we love lentils, we love hot... Fingers crossed.. Doubled the carrots and celery too... Will update when its done..

Pesto Cheesy Chicken Rolls

Reviewed: May 11, 2010
Easy and delicious!! Pounded, salt pepper and Mrs Dash Table Blend to outside, spread pesto on entire insides, added cheddar slices(all we had) rolled up, dipped in 2% milk (have no eggs currently) and plain toasted breadcrumbs, sprayed with PAM Olive Oil Cooking Spray, popped them on the broiler into the oven and 30 mins (also broiled for a minute at the end for an extra crunch) and VOILA!!! Thank you thank you! Served ours with baked potato and green bean, asparagus, onions and mushrooms. DELICIOUS!!!

Swiss Sherry Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
I was wanting Chicken Marsala, but I didn't have Marsala wine. I stumbled upon this beauty, and with the reviewers help, I created a delicious dish! Omitted sour cream (didn't have) and used parsley instead of dill. Add a bit of lemon juice and a can of mushrooms. Served with asparagus. Delicious! (Beware: searing chicken cuts down on bake time!)

French Toast II

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Probably very good if I had regular milk but i didn't....I make french toast pretty often and thought adding brown sugar would be a good idea... I usually add a little regular milk, (but not too much, as my husband doesn't KNOW I do it... )Today, I didnt have any milk and used french vanilla coffee creamer and the brown sugar.. The cook time seemed longer, and I wasnt sure it was cooked through, and as i turned up the heat, the sugar caused my french toast to start to burn... Mind you, my husband likes his french toast JUST SO, so i was VERY light on the sugar!!! I cooked 8 pieces of french toast (needed 6 eggs for this) and while we both scarfed most of it down, I prefer the old way-- the brown sugar didnt add anything in my opinion, and if you are usually maple syrup anyhow, the flavor is in there, without having to burn it while cooking... We DID eat it, and coffeemate may have attributed to the burning, but I thought I would mention this anyway..

Red Beans and Rice with Vegetables (Chicken optional)

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
On cooking this a second time- I realized you should cook the chicken, then remove and drain. Cook the veggies, add the spices, add the chicken back in.. the onions were pretty raw the way it is written above, and the chicken was overdone...

On its own- the recipe had NO chance-- BUT I used a lot the excellent suggestions and this dish was great... I cooked chicken tenderloins instead of sausage and this came out AMAZING... Added Chili powder, Cayenne, Onion Powder, garlic powder, cumin, paprika... I cannot WAIT until my husband tries it! Great START to a really great dish

Spicy Rapid Roast Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
I cooked this chicken for dinner and it had wonderful flavor and was simple (which is GREAT for me!) I changed the cooking time since I wasnt sure what time my husband would walk through the door tonight. I lowered the temperature TWICE (400 then 350) then after an hour and half, I turned the oven off until my husband got home... I also basted the heck out of it and also stuffed the cavity with onions that I sprinkled with the SAME herbs... The bird was delicious, juicy and spicy... I recommend you try it and just tweak the times.. :-)
