I am a surfer enjoying a good life in mexico! We have a beach house that we rent out in the winter, and in the summer/ rainy season we help the community relocate sea turtle nests to protect them from poachers. We use our beach front as a nursery and then include local children in sunset releases to teach them respect and compassion for the beach, the ocean and hopefully all it's creatures.
My favorite things to cook
My husband, like all, is a man of habit. He likes black beans and rice! I do like cooking these things for him, but I do well on pasta and potato dishes. So it's usually all these things, once a week. A recent favorite is stuffing Portabellas with blue cheese , pecan, dijon, herbs a little plain yogurt, balsamic vinegar, topped with a bit of fresh parmesan. Grill/ Broil 20 mins.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Probably the Ukraine influences from Ma and Grandma, peorgies, saurkraut, borscht, and the cracked whole wheat berries floating in honey water that was made for Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
The salsa from this site, the stuffed mushrooms, grilling Mahi Mahi/ Dorado wrapped in banana leaves, mainated in Achiote/ grapefruit!

Over salting the potatoes when I was a nervous newlywed! Although it was funny to watch him choke them down to be polite!
