Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2005
These were excellent! I had a lot of trouble rolling out the dough out all at once. Next time, I will divide the dough into 6 pieces and roll each out individual circles. As I cooked it, I thought the sugar-water sauce seemed way too thin and there seemed to be way too much so I only added about a third of it to the pan. In the end, the sauce cooked down and I wished I had added it all to the pan. Next time I will follow the directions exactly. Thanks!

Habanero Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2005
We've got a ton of habaneros in the garden, so I thought this might be an interesting way to use them. The taste reminded me of a bland sugar cookie with the flavor of a green pepper. Not exactly what I'd hoped for. I was, however, glad to learn the milk trick to cooling down my peppers for use in other recipes.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2005
This is my all-time-favorite "allrecipes" recipe (and I have lots!). I've been making this for a few years now and my husband wouldn't complain if we had it for dinner every night. When I make it, I use a bit less butter (around 1/3 cup), an additional 2 tsp. garlic (or to taste), and a few pinches of nutmeg. I keep adding and tasting, until I can taste a hint of the nutmeg. Try it... it makes all of the difference! It will taste like Olive Garden's... only better. I also usually roast a clove of garlic in the oven and add the roasted cloves to the sauce. If your alfredo is too runny, keep adding parmesan until you get a consistency you like. Goes perfect with bruschetta.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2001
I tried this reicpe twice without success using a regular pan. The result was a hardend, burned lump on the bottom of my pot. Then I decided to try a non-stick pot and it worked wonderfully. I definately would try using a non-stick pan before you give up! I took the advice to test the oil with a single kernel of corn and that works great.

Hedgehogs

The hubby and I loved these! Had to cook them a bit longer - about 17 min. Also needed a bit more coconut for rolling. So yummy!

Lemon Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
This was pretty good. I substituted 1/4 of the white flour for whole wheat to make it a little healthier. Next time, I'll add walnuts, as well.

Mall Pretzels

Holy cow! These things are good! I popped all of the dough ingredients in the breadmaker and set it on the "dough" cycle. Worked like a charm.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
I started making this pie and realized I only had 4 eggs, but it turned out great. I took one of the other reviewers advice and used a garlic press for the limes. I made a homemade crust and added a bit of grated lime zest to the filling. Perfect.

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2005
Great recipe! I followed the recipe exactly and my first batch turned out very nice. I topped some with sesame seed and some with poppy seed. The next time, I tried adding blueberries right at the end - bad idea. The dough didn't hold together and got all slimy. Next time, I'll take a safer route and just try adding a little dried onion flakes at the start. Try these, you'll like them!

Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2005
This soup was just what I've been looking for. I love Panera Bread's new Red Pepper - Tomato Bisque and this reminds me of it. I used vegetable broth in place of the chicken broth since I'm a vegetarian but otherwise, stuck to the recipe. The thyme flavor was very strong so next time I'll try basil and maybe a bay leaf instead. Thanks for a great one!

Kisses Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2005
This recipe was the hit of the last office Birthday party. Everyone loved it. Half of them asked for the recipe! I was worried about the chocolate on the bottom being to hard to cut as one reviewer mentioned, but it was nice an creamy. A warning, this is VERY rich. You can cut it in even smaller pieces and it will still satisfy everyones sweet tooth. It may seem like there is too much peanut butter mixture but just mound it high in the middle as this makes the pieces look great when cut.
