Strawberry Torte

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
Have made this a number of times. It definately has a WOW factor! Everyone loves it and it is so impressive. Made for Easter as the only dessert and it did not disappoint. The only change I made was to add some lemon zest to the filling and some fresh sliced berries in the middle, on top of the ladyfinger layer. I also used 2 1/2 packages of 3 oz. ladyfingers. Thanks for a great recipe!

Baked Dijon Salmon

Company fare! This wonderful recipe is perfect. I did not have pecans so I substituted chopped pistachios. The topping was crunchy and very tasty. It is now in my company folder as it is a recipe that I would be proud to serve to my guests.I am looking forward to trying with the pecans. Thank you for a great recipe.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
Great recipe! Will be making this many, many times more! It was a huge hit! I did follow others advice by using PAM to coat the pan and a yellow cake mix. I also soaked the pineapple rings in rum for 1 hour for the "adult" version. Using the drained pineapple juice and water to get the right amount of liquid for the mix added alot. Easy, Pretty and soooo Good. You cannot go wrong with this recipe. I served with fresh whipped cream.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
This has been the hit of our summer barbeques. I have made this four times and served over ribs and chicken. Guaranteed, this is "finger-licking" good! I hate to see summer end here in Massachusetts. I usually use barbeque sauce only in the summer but, with this recipe I might have to change my ways! I prepare this a couple of days ahead allowing flavors to blend. It also saves on prep the day of. I have altered the amount of red cayenne to 1/4 teaspoon (personal taste) otherwise, I have followed this recipe exactly and it has not failed me yet. Thanks for a great recipe. This is one of the best on this site.

Vincente's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Great basic recipe. I love the simplicity! I love the fact that there is only one type of cheese. Sometimes, less is more and this is one of those times. Mac and cheese is a classic and should not be complicated with too many ingredients. The onion gives it nice flavor as does the mustard. If someone wants to have some additional flavor, just put some seasoned breadcrumbs on top! Thanks for the recipe!

Easy Caramelized Onion Pork Chops

Way to my heart! For years pork chops were my favorite meal but somewhere along the way, I lost interest in them. This recipe brought me back to the meal that I loved! Followed the recipe exactly. Thank you!

Zuppa Di Pesce Fra Di Avolo

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
Excellent recipe! Made this for 4, left out the scallops and littlenecks just because we didn't have any. Otherwise, we followed the recipe as written and it came out with great results. This is the kind of recipe that you can vary slightly to adapt to your needs and taste. We substituted the water with the juice of the chopped clams. This added to the flavor. Thanks for a great recipe. Will make again.

Barbecued Beef Ribs for Two

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
Excellent recipe! As far as the cooking instructions go, I did not and would not change a thing. You might want to double or triple the recipe, though. I did and am glad that I did! It was delicious and finger licking good! You will not be disappointed!

Roasted Red Pepper Tapenade

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
Love it! Love it! Love it! I will have to say that I did cut the garlic and capers in half. Still very tasty. I have made this with the cilantro and also have substituted Italian parsley. I do prefer the parsley but it is wonderful either way. I have made it about four times now and have gotten rave reviews and requests from many foodies! Nice colors for the holidays, too! Thank you for this great recipe!

Awesome recipe! We could not stop eating this. I followed recipe and am oh sooooo happy with the results. I do not have a sweet tooth and still found this wonderful. This will be the "go-to" recipe for a nice addition to a brunch or for dessert. You can not go wrong, just follow the recipe!

Seared Sea Scallops

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
LOVED this recipe. I had NO PROBLEM with this being soggy as others have written. The secret is leave space between the scallops when pan frying. I used a large electric fry pan. I was able to cook all at once. Served over angel. I am going to make this a regular. I will try as a salad next time. Yum! I did find that shaking scallops in plastic bag (as suggested by another) to coat worked out well. Thank you for a great recipe.

Portuguese Cod Fish Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2012
We love baked cod and are always looking for new ways to prepare. I followed others suggestions and used fresh cod, skipped the potatoes because we are on a low carb diet and halved the red pepper (personal taste). I added salt to the sauce since this was not salted cod that I was using.I left out the paprika because I didn't have any on hand. Even before cooking,I found the sauce to be wonderful. We are tempted to use it alone as a dipping sauce, very yummy! I did add pitted black olives at the end since this is the way our local Portuguese restaurant serves this. Will definately make again and highly recommend! Thanks for a great recipe!

Grilled Fish Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2010
Restaurant Fare! I was looking for a great halibut recipe without a cream sauce. Made this using the suggestions of another reviewer by serving over rucola (argula) with artichoke hearts and a little paprika for color. It works well with halibut steak, too. Very impressive and oh soooo good! Thank you!

Lancashire Hot Pot

Wow! Lots of lamb stew flavor going on without it being a stew! The meat and potato guy said, "Add this one to the recipe box!" Can see us having this many more times. I did use leftover lamb from Easter and cut the oven temp. halfway through. I also covered with foil for a time. You will like this one! Thanks for a great recipe!

Easter Leg of Lamb

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2014
Very tender and moist. We cooked until the roast reached 130 degrees. We like our lamb med. rare. Then we let it rest for ten minutes which continues the cooking process. We adjusted the amount of salt and pepper to 1 T of each. For us, this was plenty. We love the flavors of the coating and would not change a thing more. Thanks for a delicious roast. I know what I will be making for Easter and other times as well!

Minted Pea Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
The meat and potato guy loved this! He even went back for thirds! I did go for the low-fat version by subsituting 6 oz. plain Greek yogurt for the mayo and sour cream. I also used 1/2 teaspoon of dried mint leaves and only a half of a small onion. These changes made all the tastes more subtle and they did not overpower the peas. Great recipe year round. Refreshing for a hot summer night and a great reminder of warmer weather in the winter. Love it! It is easy and healthy, too! This serves as a nice compliment to fish and chicken. Great as a salad on a bed of lettuce. Highly recommend!
