Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2010
These tasted great; the whole family enjoyed them. They definitely smell good cooking. I didn't need all the flour... not even close. I worked in all but about 3/4 of a cup but that was more than I should have. I was worried because I couldn't get them smooth but they still looked pretty good baked. I'd make less than 12 next time... weren't quite big enough for a big burger.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
These were really good and easy to make. Nice and soft and a little chewy. Other than waiting for the them to rise it isn't even a very time consuming recipe. The whole family liked them... I did half with salt and half with cinnamon and sugar. I'd definitely make them again.

Irish Soda Farls

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
These are really good. I have made english muffins before and they require a lot more time because of the yeast. This is an easier breakfast bread to make in the morning. I've seen other farl recipes that cook much longer. Maybe mine were too thick but it definitely needed longer than the 6 to 8 minutes per side. I was too impatient to wait the full 20 per side that I saw on another recipe but I did do 15. I do think next time I will plan for the full 20 because they were a tad doughy in spots. I used an electric skillet at 300 and it was the perfect temp... nice and brown but not burned. My whole family enjoyed them and now want me to add things like raisins so I will definitely be making them again.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
The streusel topping is great on these... it doesn't get any burned parts, it really sticks on the muffin, and it tastes great. They look as good as they taste so they are perfect for taking to give to other people. My family really enjoyed these, especially split in half with melted butter. I followed the recipe exactly and it gives a nice banana flavor but I could see where other people's additions of seasonings would be good... depends on your preference.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
This pie tasted very good and everyone liked it. The lemon got denser than I expected so it wasn't really my favorite texture for a pie but it was the perfect sweetness. My pan was a little big and my meringue shrunk a bit in the fridge so I was a little disappointed since it had looked so good the couple hours before and then when I went back some of the lemon was showing and was a bit damp. But it was my first attempt and was pretty successful. I couldn't believe how easy the recipe was to make- really quick. I'd make it again.

English Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2010
These were so easy to make. The cooking was a little time consuming but other than that it was quick and simple. Everyone in my family thinks they taste great and they look perfect. I cooked mine on an electric skillet at 275 that I had very lightly rubbed in butter before heating it. There weren't big air pockets but it was definitely a bubbly muffin and not too dense... I didn't roll mine, just patted it down with my hands, so that might help some of the people saying it was like a bagel.

Braided Egg Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
I made this with my 4 year old niece... It was easy enough and it looked really nice. Everyone thought it tasted great. I didn't have the poppy seeds so I just used the egg and water and it made an excellent shiny crust. The bread itself was really light. I would definitely make it again.

Homemade Bagels

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
These tasted really good. My family enjoyed using them for sandwiches. Mine were pretty flat though and like others have said, floated immediately. I would make them again, easy enough, but I would try other recipes.

Orange Marmalade Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
These really taste just like orange marmalade. They are pretty quick and easy to make. I liked the flavor but I wished they looked a little prettier. Maybe if I took more time I could get them to come out nicer.
