Jimmy's Mexican Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2013
I cooked it longer at a higher temperature to make it more crispy (personal preference). But, the recipe, as is, is excellent!!!

Perfect as written! Made on cookie sheet instead of mini muffin pan, and they turned out fine. Thanks for the recipe!

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
Made as is, and it tasted wonderful! The marinade made the chicken very tender and juicy. The lime taste was very subtle, so next time I'll try 2 limes.

Busy Day Barbeque Brisket

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
Fixed this exactly as written, and it was DELICIOUS!! My husband and I loved it, but our 11-year old did think it was a little too spicy due to the cayenne pepper - I scraped the sauce off the meat and she gobbled it up (and she usually does not like meat or BBQ sauce). I marinated the brisket in the dry rub overnight. DO NOT mix it with the sauce as some of the other reviewers did - it's best as a marinade to soak into the meat. I sliced the meat and placed it back into the crock pot for the last hour. It made the meat very moist, juicy, and full of flavor. The type of BBQ sauce you use will definitely make a difference. I used Dinosaur Original BBQ sauce (which you probably won't find unless you live in upstate NY) - it's a redder BBQ sauce, unlike Jack Daniels or KC Masterpiece which are smokier. It was PERFECT. Thanks Shannon!

B and L's Strawberry Smoothie

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
Great recipe with just a few minor adjustments. I used 10 frozen strawberries for better taste and convenience (didn't need ice cubes). I also reduced the sugar - 2 Tbsp still makes a sweet smoothie. Low-fat vanilla yogurt adds sweetness and flavor. The best smoothie I've ever had. Add bananas and kiwi for variety. Even my husband, who doesn't like healthy smoothies, loved this one!

Slow-Cooked Short Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
Perfect as written! Followed the recipe as is and loved it!!! The sauce is DELICIOUS, but greasy (as it usually is with short ribs), so I just spooned the excess grease off the top. Don't substitute BBQ sauce or hot sauce for the chili sauce - it's not the same. Find regular chili sauce in your supermarket, it's well worth it for this recipe!

Donut Muffins

Absolutely perfect as written! I made this exactly as it's written, and they were wonderful! I made regular sized muffins since I didn't have a mini-muffin pan, and they turned out fine. Thank you for adding the recipe!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 5, 2013
It tastes GREAT as written! It's a good basic recipe - try it as is first, then adjust to your personal taste. I played around with it - adding more ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, etc., then ended up going back to the original version. I definitely like the original version the best! As an American stationed overseas, I was looking for something to replace the canned version, and this is it! Thanks for the recipe!

Challah II

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly as is for my first time - the taste is perfect - not too sweet, but sweet & delicious enough to eat it plain without any spreads/toppings. The various reviews on cooking times depend on the thickness of your loaf. Mine was a little thick and although I cooked it until it was brown and lightly crusted on top (just like Rivka's photo), it was a little doughy in the middle. For my second try, I rolled the braids a little thinner to make a thinner loaf, and it was perfect! Thanks for the recipe!

Cream of Mushroom Soup I

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2013
Great cream of mushroom soup! I left out the sherry (didn't have any on hand), and it made a very nice, basic soup. Even my 13-year old daughter loved it. I'll definitely make this again!

Thai Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2013
I agree with Michelly2's review - try this recipe as is before messing with the ingredients. The recipe is good as is. After trying it that way, I opted to add twice the amount of lemongrass (paste) and 6 garlic cloves for personal tastes. Anyone who has had authentic, Asian Thai pumpkin soup will enjoy this recipe. If you add chicken, brown sugar, etc, then it is no longer Thai pumpkin soup - just pumpkin soup. Thanks for the recipe, Brigit!!!

Comforting Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
Fantastic! I made the recipe as is, but next time will use a pasta maker so the noodles will be thinner. Next time, I'll add more salt too. Also, I'll try adding rosemary, which another reviewer reommended. My 13-year old daughter ate 3 bowls of this! Thank you for the recipe!!!

The Best Fresh Tomato Salsa

Sara was right - this is a very good base recipe, easy to personalize. I didn't change the ingredients, just the amounts of each for more flavor and spice. Yummy!

Baked Salmon II

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
Overall, very tasty. My husband even liked it, and he doesn't like fish (because it usually has a fishy taste). I removed the skin before marinating, and it really cut down on the fishy taste. In an effort to be healthier, I cut the olive oil down to 2 Tbsp; however, the fish was too dry. Next time, I increased it to 3 Tbsp, and increased the lemon juice to 2 Tbsp, and it was much better. I could hardly taste the lemon, so I think I'll add lemon slices on top of the fish while baking, like another reviewer recommended.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: May 23, 2013
The water to flour ratio is wrong - this dough is way to wet & sticky. I'm not sure why people gave the recipe 5 stars then stated in their comments that they had to add more flour. The recipe, as is, is a one-star recipe.
