About this Cook
Golf is no.1, next, is cooking, then sewing, and between all of that, bridge. I love to get a good basic recipe and then improve on it.
My favorite things to cook
100% fresh gound whole wheat bread, and raisin nut bread, using a bread machine :) I love experimenting and making all kinds of recipes, enjoy baking, my favorite is pina colda cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family didn't really cook, only out of necessity, but I always liked baking new things. My younger and only bro was sad when I got married and the treats stopped...lol... My father made a stuffing for turkey that we grew up on and none of us kids (7) will fix anything else! He improved on his mother's recipe (she was german)
My cooking triumphs
Pefecting recipes I have gotten along the way. My 100% wheat raisin and nut bread.
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at making a Pina Colada cake. The rum was too strong and too much whipping cream...the four layers were going on a slide trip. When I first got married, I made gravy, never watched my mother add the flour, so I made it and added like a 1/2 c. flour. It was like eating paste.

Banana Muffins II
made these as is, also with changes of canola oil instead of butter, 1/2 wheat flour 1/2 all purpose, cinnamon, nutmeg. 1/2 brown sugar 1/2 white Added extra banana with both recipes. Original was a 5 the other also a 5, just a little healthier. When I say 1/2 I mean 1/2 of the amount called for.

Lemon Yogurt Dip
When I made this I didn't like the sugar flavor, so the next time I made it I used 1 tsp; vanilla and raw honey, just enough to give it a light sweet taste. Love the lemon in it and I used the zest from the lemon. YUM! With the changes a 3 star. With the changes 5 stars.

Champagne Shrimp and Pasta
This was unbelieveable. I didn't have champagne so I used a white wine, I added a little minced garlic and some seafood seasoning. The sauce didn't seem to thicken up enough and I was afraid to keep boiling it with the cream so I added a little cornstarch and more cream. It thickened up alot then. I think I will double the wine and cream next time, but it was to die for, I had my hubby help and it was pretty easy with twp extra hands!!
