I grew up in the restaurant business and have developed a real love of food. I am currently doing some private chef work, in addition to training dogs and caring for race horses.
My favorite things to cook
I'll cook anything but my favs are still the old style, homey dishes. I have a large garden and I do a lot of canning, too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was a kid, my dad used to take us to the restaurant and make us pancakes in the shape of gingerbead men on XMas morning. I never had kids to share that tradition with, but it's a fond memory and I still make those pancakes for my husband!
My cooking triumphs
I've mastered pate a chou! The first time I tried it was over 25 years ago and I just recently discovered that room temp eggs make it a heckuva lot easier to get the dough smooth!
My cooking tragedies
I can't make a meatloaf to save myself.

Shortbread Cookies II
This is a PERFECT shortbread cookie. I didn't use my cookie press this time just rolled the dough into logs and shaped them ractangles, then sliced. I sprinkled some cookies with colored sugar, iced some and put ground nuts on others. Very easy and a lot of bang for your buck. The recipe resulted in about 4 dozen 1" cookies.

Double Chocolate Biscotti
This is a tasty biscotti, but it does not have the texture of a traditional biscotti cookie. For me, it was too crumbly and not as "hard" as it should be. My cookies fall apart when dunked in espresso. The cookie does taste very good - very chocolatey but it will fail to impress a real italian.

Creamy Frosting
Great tasting, creamy frosting. Recipe does not yield enough to cover and fill a two layer 9" cake. Does not hold up well for extensive piping (esp. if you have "hot hands".) When cooling flour/milk mixture be sure to place plastic wrap directly on top or it will form a skin that WILL NOT beat out.
