I am married to a real sweetheart and we have one daughter and 2 boys. Everyone in our house is extremely active and thus very hungry! I have been blessed with a mom who is one heck of a good cook. So, many delicious recipes have been handed down to me. Always looking for recipes and have found that quick and easy can still mean healthy and satisfying. I always take a recipe and make substitutions so it's as healthy as it can be.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make anything, with the exception of fish...it never turns out for me & the house wreaks for days! So we go out to dinner for that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas Eve, I cut up oranges and sprinkle them with a fair amount of sugar and cinnamon. Then Christmas morning we open presents followed by a delicious meal of the oranges, along with sauteed kielbasa, and handmade perogies. My Polish grandmother always made this on Christmas Eve when I was a child, so we carry that tradition forth in our home.
My cooking triumphs
I try to look at everything as a triumph in some way. I am always proud of myself when I bake, because I am not a baker. I once made a stunning 3 layer carrot cake - if I do say so myself...ha ha!
My cooking tragedies
I have been cooking for so long, I can't remember back that far...but, I remember when I was pregnant, my non-cook-of-a-husband, made a pot roast once...needless to say, I remember going out for dinner that night, laughing all the way! He definitely learned to appreciate the art of cooking :)
