really easy pie to make - I made it with blackberries, strawberries and blueberries. Very good! Great consistency and again, very easy to make!

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
I made 2 different quiche's from this recipe: one bacon and cheese and the other was a spinach and mushroom (and cheese). I didn't use swiss cheese, i used colby jack (for both) and instead of using 3 eggs, I used 5. I also used skim milk. I cooked the bacon first and then set aside the bacon grease; used some of it to cook the onions and then the spinach and mushroom as well- that really adds a great flavor to it! i took it to a baby shower and it got rave reviews! Will definitely make again!

Butternut Squash Bisque

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
This was a great recipe- I didn't really measure anything and decided to roast my butternut squash instead of just peeling and cubing (soooo much easier and adds taste!). I didn't have any nutmeg, so I put a little bit of cinnamon and added some sugar as well. My homemade vegetable stock was pretty heavy on the thyme, so I had to add extra cream, cinnamon and sugar to even it out and make it sweeter. The soup was very thick as well.

Basil Chicken and Pasta

very good! I added "italian mix" cheese (about 1/2 a cup). I'll probably go lighter on the cheese next time.

Green Bean Casserole I

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
I used frozen green beans instead of the canned green beans and although it was tasty, it probably would have been much better had I followed the recipe more- I don't recommend straying from it!

Pumpkin Pie Bread

very good! I did as other reviews said and froze it (everyone said it was better after being frozen). It was just a tad bit dry for my taste but that could just be me? I will keep this and make it again! Thanks for a great recipe!

Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
i made this with dried black-eyed peas instead of the ones in a can and just followed the directions on the back of the bag (boil beans in 8 cups of water for 10 mins and let soak for an hour) and just used that (with the left over water). I also used real peppers instead of ones in the can with tomatoes. I ended up adding a lot more rice than was recommended so it ended up being more like a cajun rice dish- I added okra, sausage and shrimp. My "new" dish needed a lot more flavor in it-I added a little "cajun spice" but it still needed a little something more.

Macaroni and Cheese IV

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
I read the other reviews and thought I needed to add a little more to the recipe- I used ground turkey instead of ground beef and gluten-free noodles instead of regular ones. I also added another 1/2 bag of cheese and even added some cream cheese to make it even creamier. I added some chili powder, which I think was a mistake. That or the cream cheese. I think simply adding garlic and onion powder with a little salt would have done much better.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
very tasty! I don't know what I did wrong at the beginning but i had to put a lot of extra water in the dough. If it wasn't for my stand mixer, I don't think we would have had the pretzels-it was so hard to mix!

Creamy Shell Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
fixed this using gluten-free penne pasta; didn't have American cheese, cucumber, celery or sunflower kernels so I used cheddar cheese and put some bacon in. The broccoli is so good! I also didn't have minced onion, so I used onion salt and garlic salt. I used honey mustard instead of dijon or plain yellow mustard as well. Overall, not a bad dish... tangy and creamy!

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
this is an awesome camping recipe-very little prep and you can (obviously) make it ahead so all you have to do is pull it out of the cooler and onto the fire. The salt and pepper, butter and evoo is all I used as seasoning and it was so good! I actually bought a package of mixed frozen veggies and put them in instead of just the green beans and it was sooo good! We will be using this idea the next time we go camping!

Chicken with Tomatillos and Poblanos

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2010
I made this because like another user, I received some tomatillos in my "farm box" and had no clue what to do with them and other peppers I received. I made the mistake of putting 5 poblano peppers in instead of 3; I didn't have Anaheim peppers and green onion, so I didn't put those in. The dish ended up being way too spicy for my family's taste but it still was an excellent dish! It would have been so much better if I hadn't gone wild with the poblanos... I served it with rice and vodka mango smoothies to "cool our tongues" and it turned out fine! The chicken was especially good after taking it out of the sauce.
