About this Cook
I'm a stay-at-home mom of two young children and absolutely love to cook. Being named an Allrecipes Allstar has been a thrill and I absolutely love the community of home-cooks I've connected with at Allrecipes!
My favorite things to cook
Bread and ethnic foods. I tend to enjoy lighter fare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was about 8 I asked if I could cook our family's Christmas dinner and my mom agreed to let me. I chose to serve lasagna and mashed potatoes with oatmeal cookies for dessert. The unconventional meal has become a sort of tradition for our family.
My cooking triumphs
:-) Any time I know that what I've made is better than I could get at a restaurant.
My cooking tragedies
I have failed repeatedly at making pita bread and English muffins. Regardless of how simple the recipes look, they never turn out correctly for me.

Cobb Salad
Great basic recipe, I forgot the green onions but it was fine without them. I used the dressing from the BLT Salad recipe on this site.

Quick and Easy Mexican Chicken
Easy dish and went over very well with the family. Came together very quickly. I added chili powder and garlic powder to the seasoning. Rather than transferring to another pan I browned the chicken in a cast iron skillet and then just spread the salsa and cheese over the top before moving to the oven.

Slow Cooker Alabama Pulled BBQ Chicken
My family definitely enjoyed this, though I cooked the chicken a little differently. I didn't have a whole chicken but I did have 3 bone-in chicken breasts totaling just under 5 lbs. I put the onions in the bottom, added the chicken, topped with the spices, and covered with water on high until the chicken was cooked through and falling off the bone before shredding and tossing with the sauce.
