Herbed Cheese Omelet

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Super tasty omelet. We love the herbs! They really add wonderful flavor to your everyday omelet. I might try using fresh basil & parsley next time to see how that goes, but there is nothing that needs changed with this recipe. Great blend of flavors. Thanks for sharing! :)

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
This turned out to be a very good brownie recipe & very quick to throw together! I have another recipe on here that I like to use for more fudge-like brownies, but this one is great for a more cake-like brownie. Sometimes we want one or the other, so it's good to have recipes for both. The only change I made was to leave out the walnuts since I was out of them. Everything else was perfect. Thanks for sharing this recipe! :)

Pizza Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
These made for a great movie snack! For the meat filling we used some leftover pizza sauce instead of the tomato sauce, added italian seasoning, and minced garlic. We also used a lot more cheese & just added it to each roll before rolling them instead of adding it to the meat mixture. Thanks for the quick snack idea! It was very yummy! :)

Strawberry Banana Crepes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
PERFECT! These were delicious crepes. Followed everything as instructed and opted not to add the full amount of sugar for the topping since the fresh fruit already holds it own. The cream cheese filling is absolutely divine! We loved this breakfast treat! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! :)

Lemon Corn and Zucchini

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
This is a really pretty and tasty side dish. Very fresh and flavorful! The lemon is a nice touch and it works well with the veggie combo. Next time, I think I'll try using fresh or frozen corn to make it even better. Thanks for sharing the recipe! :)

Pepperoni Pizza Pita

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
I love pita pizzas & it doesn't get much easier than this. Used sliced green bell pepper & red onions since I didn't have any mushrooms. Made for a perfect lunch! Thanks for the quick recipe!

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Delicious! Didn't change a thing. We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this soup. Very rich & creamy, great mushroom flavor, and all the ingredients blend wonderfully -- savory, sweet, & tangy. Do not leave anything out. Thank you SO much for this recipe! It is a keeper & a definite repeater! :)

Savory Herb Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
Loved the taste of this rice. I only changed two things. In place of the water & granules, I used 1.5 cups chicken broth for my 1 cup jasmine rice per the ratio instructed on the rice package. I also reduced the soy sauce to 1T. The herbs are a perfect mix & the soy sauce adds a nice flavor, so don't leave it out. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! :)

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
I have to admit that I was nervous as HECK about making this one after all the hit & miss reviews. In the end, I decided to take the advice of some of those who have gone before me. It's always better to err on the side of caution. :) So I doubled the garlic, cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup, cut the paprika down to 2 tsp, and bravely used the directed amount of red wine (a nice zinfandel). The flavors were perfect! I don't like to cook garlic in hot oil at the beginning of browning anything since it tends to burn & get bitter. Instead, I salt & pepper the chicken breasts and brown them, then added the garlic for the last 30 seconds or so of browning just to release the flavor, then followed Step 2 as instructed. Twenty minutes later -- I had delicious, caramely, tender chicken w/ a fabulous deep, dark color. Note that the instructions never tell you to turn down the heat, so I kept it covered & simmered over med-high heat. This helped reduce the sauce & really blend the flavors. We really enjoyed this chicken! Thanks for the great start! :)

Farmer's Market Vegetarian Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
YUMMY!!! We LOVED these quesadillas! Baked as recommended by many others & they were a flavorful, crispy, & delicious dinner success! I added a clove of minced garlic to the veggies and then salt & pepper to taste. They were DELISH! I think could eat a whole plate of just the veggies by themselves! I also used less cheese, but that was just me trying to be good to my hips. Thank you for the fabulous recipe! Will be our new quesadilla of choice. :)

Pico De Gallo

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
With some modifications, this is a really good & simple pico de gallo recipe. Like others have said, half an onion is plenty for this recipe. Use one or two cloves of FRESH minced garlic instead of the garlic powder and you'll be happy that you did. :) We prefer ours with much more cilantro & a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Thanks for sharing the recipe! :)

Chocolate Applesauce Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
I am stuffing my face with this moist, chocolaty goodness as I type this and I am in HEAVEN!! Doubled the cocoa powder as suggested & forgot the nuts, but kept the other quantities the same. Halved the recipe so that I could bake as cupcakes (350 for 20 minutes) and found that half the recipe makes 12 perfectly beautiful little gems. I had originally intended to dust them with powdered sugar after they cooled, but they're so gorgeous as they are that I am leaving them as is! Thanks so much for taming my chocolate craving! Will make this one again! :)

Dad's Hamburger Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
Hubster wanted biscuits & gravy for breakfast and we didn't have any sausage, so we thought we'd give this gravy a try. It was delicious! It was a perfect thick & creamy texture. Didn't have any chicken bouillon granules, so I used seasoned salt and added a clove of minced garlic to make up for it. The sage really is the star in this gravy, so don't leave it out. We loved it. Thanks for the quick-save breakfast and a keeper of a recipe! :)

Ham and Pea Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2011
This was a perfect way to use up our last chunk of ham from the holidays and some of the homemade ranch dressing I made recently. Creamy & flavorful salad that hit the spot for a quick lunch. No changes needed, the flavors are exactly right. Thanks for the keeper of a recipe! :)

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Delicious, tender, perfect chicken! We loved the flavor of this dish! I used skinless-boneless chicken thighs & baked at 400 deg for 35 minutes (brushed every 10 min as instructed). No other changes were necessary for us. There was plenty of the yummy sauce to go around & no leftovers when it was all said and done. Will definitely be making this one again. Thanks for the great recipe! :)

Ranch-Style Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Used this recipe as a veggie dip, so I left out the buttermilk to keep it thicker. Based on other reviews, I halved the amounts of lemon juice, red wine vinegar, & worcestershire sauce. To suit our tastes, I also added 1/4 tsp dried dill weed. The end result was a delicious ranch dip! Will be making homemade ranch dressing from now on. Thanks for the recipe! :)

Less Fat Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
These cookies are a pretty good alternative to the full fat version, but they did not turn out thin & crispy like we prefer our gingersnaps. If you like soft, puffy, & chewy gingersnaps, then this is the recipe for you. :) We did like the flavor, however (I added much more ground ginger & cinnamon to the mix). I agree with others that they are a little on the sweet side even with unsweetened applesauce, so the sugar can definitely be reduced. Thanks for sharing the recipe! My hips & thighs thank you! :)

Oatmeal Crispies I

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Awesome, classic, perfect oatmeal cookies! We LOVED these cookies & ate a dozen of them right off the bat (there's only the Hubster and myself here), so I'll have to say that they're pretty tasty! Halved the recipe & got 4 dozen perfect-sized cookies. I also used pecans along with the walnuts since we didn't have enough walnuts. I hardly ever have a glass of milk voluntarily, but dipping these crispy little cookies sure did the trick! Thanks for the great recipe! :)

Pub Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
I stumbled upon this recipe looking for another way to use up leftover spiral ham & this fit the bill since we also had leftover pineapple slices from the ham, too. We really loved these little pizzas! There really is no need to measure, just use as much toppings as you like. We had shredded mozzarella & cheddar on hand so that's what we used. I made the Easy Pizza Sauce III recipe from this site & we had dinner on the table in just minutes. Thanks for the fun, fast, & tasty recipe! :)

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
Really good pizza sauce as written, but is instantly a 5-star sauce with the addition of 1 T dried basil, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp minced onion, & a dash of crushed red pepper flakes. So simple and quick. Thanks for this new kitchen staple recipe! Will be using it often. :)
