Joan's Thanksgiving Cake with Phoebe G's Caramel Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
we really enjoyed this cake, Swchef, very moist and tasty. I have not thought of the icing you recomend in years. Used to use that on spice cakes just used less brown sugar in mine. Glad to find this recipe and the family asked for it to be saved to make again. Updated-OMG, make this cake a day ahead of time-I just sent some for lunch with RN Grampa and tasted a tiny piece for breakfast, it is even 10X better than last night.

so easy and so good, thanks Linda. I needed an extra goodie for a tin over the weekend and whipped this up and added to the tins. Very festive colours.

Chocolate & Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
It's a good thing I can type with my mouth full. This fudge is so creamy and delicious, I think a second batch may have to be made. We love chocolate and pb mixed together and this is delicious. Thanks Sassy, it has been added to the Christmas list, if I ever share it, others may enjoy it as well. For now, it is mine, all mine!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
this is old fashioned gingerbread at its finest. It held up to houses and baked up beautifully. Be sure to let it cool overnight in the fridge, I added a small amount of flour to roll the dough but it is very soft and easy to work with. Thanks for the great tasting cookie

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

I prefer these made with butter-excellent cookie, been making these for years. I let them sit over night in the fridge, easier to roll them.

Confetti Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
my first attempt to make corn meal muffins, these were great. I used bacon drippings instead of marg and added bacon and onions to these. Made a great savory muffin. Next time I will add jalapenos and shredded cheese.

Horseradish Dipping Sauce

great sauce, make it as hot as you want by adding more horseradish. Tasted great on LTH's meatballs and as a dip for green peppers

Cheesy Sausage Tidbits

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
these were delicious. I used bacon drippings instead of butter because I was frying bacon for other dishes. I also used some homemade pepperoni, that's all I had. I rolled the pepperoni tidbits and left the ends open to look like sausage rolls. The coating baked up beautifully, crunchy cheesy cracker like texture. These will be added to appy plates many times.

excellent little cups. I made my own biscuit dough and these were put together no time. The parmesean and worcestershire sauce really liven up the dip.

Pecan Cranberry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
this is a keeper, it baked up excellent. I did not have canned berries, so I cooked up a bag of cranberries with 1/3 cup of apple juice and honey to sweeten. The berry sauce thickened up nicely and the cake looked and tasted festive. Great cake for any holiday brunch or dessert. Not too sweet and the pecans made a nice crunchy topping.

Sourdough Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
we have loved this recipe for years, it's a change from other fluffy pancakes. These are thinner, but can add 1/4 c of flour to firm up the battter. Also add a mashed banana and a handful of choc chips for special mornings

Zesty Tortilla Roll Ups

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
these were very good, I only made a 1/2 recipe to try them. I fried the bacon and put them together in the morning. I left them in the fridge for the next day for lunch boxes. The flavour was very good. Very versatile recipe-could change up with ham, roasted pepper and galic-let your imagination run. Great quick appetizer idea.

Trishie's Black Forest Pavlova

this was sooooo good. We love black forest cake and this does not disappoint. It feels like you are eating a diet version because the texture is nice and light. Therefore no claories, ha ha will make again. My boys are loving pavlova, I had never heard of it before finding AR. Thanks Trish made for a great celebration cake.

nice sauce for deer tenderloins. Very tasty and it did not overpower the meat with too many additional flavours. Thanks for the recipe

Jerky Lover's Jerky - Sweet, Hot and Spicy!

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
great taste, we doubled the recipe and used it on 6 lbs of goose breasts, it would taste every bit as good on deer. Delicious. I omitted the liquid smoke and placed in the smoker with hickory pucks. 4 hrs at 160 degrees worked great.

Pumpkin Brioche

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
this bread is a very light, slightly pumkin flavoured mound of goodness. It is very sticky before you chill it, and I forgot about the pan sitting in the oven on the final rise. So it may have risen for 2-3 hours before it was baked. It would be wondrful made up into cinnamon rolls with raisins, or pecan rolls. A little time consuming but well worth the effort. I am enjoying some now with cream cheese. I got 9 rolls so I used a 9X13 pan
