Harvest Pumpkin Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
made these for the recipe group, they turned out quite dense and were too sweet for our tastes. I used my own pumpkin spice made up of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves. The plain muffins were fine and I really liked the taste of the orange added to the icing. Next time I will cut the sugar in half in the muffins and use icing for all of them. I would also like to reduce the oil and add some apple sauce. Recipe made 12 extra large muffins

this is a family favourite, the only difference I make is I use brown sugar for the crumbly topping. Great old recipe!

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
LTH, I tip my hat to you and this recipe. I looked at these meat balls so many times, but have never made meat balls without eggs as a binder (or following a recipe-it's always a handful of this and splash of that). I bit the bullet and tried them. They are great!! Nicely spiced and they held together wonderfully. I had minestrone soup minus the noodles left over from the weekend. I pureed it in the food processor, added tomato paste and a few fresh tomatoes. Cooked the meatballs in the oven, transferred them to a crock pot with my new sauce and left them alone to get aquainted. Served over spaghetti with garlic toasts. My only regret is not trying these sooner. Next on the menu will be to master balls into Swedish meatballs. Thanks for the recipe.

this dough is VERY good, easy to work with and held up in my pizza pocket maker. I baked rather than deep fried and sent them for lunches. Will make these again using a variety of fillings-thanks SB:)

Z's Blueberry Peach Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2010
Zvon, these were delicious. I made 12 jumbo muffins so I left them in the oven for 24 minutes because I do not like fruit filled muffins turning soggy the next day. Great flavour and I used 1/2 ww flour, but that is a personal preference, I use muffins for the boys' lunch and try to get a healthy grain in them. Loved the combination of the 2 fruits and the apple sauce was a bonus.

Mini Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
good cookie, and I liked the icing idea. I made the iced pumkin cookies first and since the recipes are similar I used 1 cup of sugar, rather than 1 1/2-glad I did, they were sweet enough this way. Great get ready for fall cookie.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
these were good cookies, a little too sweet, next time I will only use 1 cup sugar. I also added an extra 1/2 cup of flour because the batter was a little thin.

Avon's, End of Summer Sunday Morning Peach Coffee Cake.

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
made this yesterday, had company for supper so I wow them-somthing new was needed. No pressure put on Avon at all. I whipped this together, the smell as it baked was heavenly. I had the windows open and everyone entered the house asking "what smells soooo good?" The peach cake was fabulous, served it with ice cream. So good! Great texture and with the steal cut oats and WW flour, it felt healthy to me:) Great recipe, Avon

I loved these Sparkle, Redneck Grampa said they were in the top 2 that I have made, that is a huge compliment. As a fellow tweaker, I know you you can appreciate a few changes:) I made the filling with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins. Next time I will add pecans because there will most definitely be a next time. Thanks for sharing and been missing you Sparkle Britches;P

Milk Braised Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
very interesting recipe, Ken. I used 1/2 the salt-personal taste. After browning the pork loin I set it in the slow cooker. I poured milk into the pan to heat and slowly cooked off the tasty bits of meat that stuck to the pan. The milk made me leary when it was time to make the gravy but I strained the liquid and it was fairly clear. I sauteed some onion, added the liquid, thickened it with corn starch and flour. Thanks for the recipe.

Super Healthy 10 Grain Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
Excellent bread, BN. Light texture, great taste and the size fits perfectly in the KA. edit-made this bread again- THANK YOU B'nana for offering proper instructions to make heavy, whole wheat, grainy breads. It is imortant to incorporate flour slowly, let it sit, knead more, etc. Too many cooks add more yeast to get a rise, it tastes yeasty in the end.

Frozen Mocha

I tried this for the recipe group, figured it would be sweet but ooh la la that was extremely sweet. I only made 1/2 the recipe just to tyr it, added more milk and that helped. Even the kids found it sweet.

Banoffee Pavlova

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
easy, tasty, 8 thumbs up from around the table. I set it in a large pie plate lined with foil, baked it 55 minutes and it was delicious. Also used room temperature eggs as they whip up better. The family is making many recommendations to alter the fillings for this. Looks like I will be buying alot of eggs-thanks Trishie-great recipe, going to try the Black Forest Pavlova next:)
