Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
excellent shepherd's pie, Lisa. I use moose burger and added peas and carrots (personal taste). This is simple and a great way to use up leftover mashed potatoes but well worth boiling potatoes just to make it for supper

Layered Seafood Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
we love this dip for many special occasions. I have used more crab and larger shrimp for a more distinct flavour. We eat this with nachos-plain or flavoured- or crackers. If you can make it a day or 2 before needed , the flavours blend together nicely

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
love this rice, I used chicken broth and some tomatoe juice I had left over from making tomato suace. I had never fried rice in oil before simmering and this added a nice fluffy texture to the rice, I will cook rice with these instructions from now on, thanks for sharing

Chipotle Guacamole

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
Excellent flavour, the adobo sauce added a great taste to the dip. I used some homemade hot salsa and I enjoyed the chunky testure of the sauce compared to just a plain guacamole dip

Shredded Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
soooo good, I cooked the roast the day before in the crockpot, then shredded the meat (used deer). These took some time, but the end results received thumbs up around the table,

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
this is just as tasty as the restaurant cinnamon buns, but 16 buns do not bake properly in a 9X13 pan. I cut these into 12 buns and cook in 2 9X13 pans or large cookie sheet. These rise nice and fluffy and the pudding adds a nice texture to the bun.

Danish Kringle

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
great flaky crust, I filled with Saskatoon pie filling and they turned out very tasty. I would like to try to make disks next time, bake then fill after the dough is cooked. I think the pastry would be firmer and the outside edges were the favourite with the family so circles would provide more pastry crunch. Great recipe thanks for sharing

Rosemary Mushroom Goose Breast

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
this was very tasty, I used snow goose for the recipe which can be quite tough, but this turned out tender and juicy. The red wine enhanced the flavour of the goose and the wild taste was very dominant, which is what we prefer. The sauce was light and did not overpower the taste. Very good recipe, thanks I will make it again.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Roll

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
EXCELLENT, this had the flavour of cheesecake and the ease of a jelly roll. Great recipe Sparkle. Next time I will use a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, all spice and cardamon (pie spice) because we love the flavour. It's another keeper , thanks for sharing!

Cranberry Apple Stuffed Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
this was good, I left the apples and cranberries as a side condiment and stuffed the pork with homemade stuffing. Roasted for 1 hr and the juices ran clear so I took it out and let it sit covered for 10 minutes. Tasty, cook times will vary with the thickness of the pork loin. So glad we 911ed this recipe.

Warm Green Bean and Potato Salad with Goat Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
we loved these potaotes, since I never have the right peppers, I used a fresh red pepper and a jalapeno, sliced up I used feta cheese-the only cheese the family will eat other than mozza and cheddar. I found a recipe on the net for the balsamic vinaigrette dressing and will make these again, Thanks Linda!

Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
excellent doughnut, very similar to our sour cream doughnuts at Tim Hortons, which I love. These make a very large batch, but they disappear fast. They need to cook a little longer than the yeast doughnut, so they will be a darker brown and a bit on the crunchy side when you set them on paper to drain. When you apply the glaze they soften right up nicely

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
these are very tasty little morsels of health, the flavour was great. I did halve some of the larger sprouts so they would cook evenly. Cook time was fine, I have a convection oven cooked 25 minutes and shook frequently so they did not burn. I will make these again, with some choped garlic and parmesean cheese sprinkled at the end

Christmas Pinwheel Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
I am pinwheel cookie challenged. So I thought I could roll these like my pie crusts. After colouring the dough, (I cheated and used some kool aid to get the colors darker, though they don't show up dark in the picture) I rolled the dough out on flexible cutting boards. I could easily set the colours on top or each other to adjust size. I used a dough scraper to even off the edges and make square corners. Then I flipped the dough onto the other colour and peeled back the board, did this 2 times. I used the bottom cutting board to aid with rolling, similar to using a tea towel to roll a jelly roll. Wrapped in waxed paper and left to cool. Delicious cookies and will be fun to play with the colours according to the season. Next time I will leave the dough in the cutting board and wrap with elastic bands. This way the dough will not get a flat bottom as it cools. Thanks for the recipe Gitano-it's making the Christmas goodie list in my house.

Jumbo Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
great cookies for morning snacks, I used pumpkin to replace the water, still got the moisture in there with a little extra flavour, also used 1 cup WW flour, so good they will be made often here.

Hot and Tangy Apple Cider

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
I have never added citrus to my homemade apple juice, always mixed with raspberry, cranberry, etc. but this was delicious, thanks Swchef. Kids enjoyed as is, I enjoyed with a little extra-liquids. I loved this recipe before it became famous.

Grandma's Chicken Soup with Homemade Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
wonderful noodles Ksaza, a little tough to roll the dough out thin, but worth every bit of effort. I simmered chicken with onions, garlic and carrots, seasonings and served over the noodles at the table.
