Cucidati II

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
I have made this twice now, excellent recipe. 4 stars only because I had to make another 1/2 batch of dough. I subbed 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa pwder for the chips-the texture and taste was better for us. These freeze great and taste better the longer they sit

Christopholofigus's Infamous Jalapeno Relish

so simple, excellent relish for burgers, and recently tried some on baked fish-superb. I will be keeping a container of this in the fridge to spice up many dishes

Cindy's Jambalaya

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
I have never made jambalaya, but I did sample some in a restaurant. It was made with orzo rather than rice. I followed Cindy's ingredients, used orzo and some wild rice. Great taste medley. This will become a new fall fav recipe

Chocolate Cookie Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
very decadent cheesecake. I love the sour cream topping and will incorporate this into other cheesecake recipes. This deserves more than 5 stars, I could not leave it in the oven to cool as I had a chicken roasting. I took out the cheesecake, set a glass bowl over the top and let it cool for 1 hour, I release the spring form pan and let chill in the fridge, then poured on the chocolate topping (made 1/2 batch) was the perfect amount to spread on cake, full batch could cover the sides as well

Bellepepper's Orzo and Wild Rice Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
Bellepepper, this recipe is worthy of 5 stars. I am a major tweaker, but I made it exact, even the sugar amount was bang on! The currants add a nice subtle, sweet taste. Since currants are so tiny, I would follow the advice from linda2d-if subbing raisins or craisins, chop them first. The texture was fantastic, I would sprinkle the nuts on at the end if making in advance. Wild rice and orzo were 2 new ingredients added to my pantry, this is a very economical, fesh idea for a salad for future potlucks and family gatherings. Thanks for sharing.

Maui Girl's Summer Fettuccine

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
the youngest redneck wanted to learn how to make my creamy pasta. I was going to walk him through it but decided he should try on his own. So I opened by RB for him to decide. A young teen will not take long to make a decision-last pasta recipe saved first one he tried-This was so good, Maui, the perfect carb supper for our busy day. It was very easy and came together quickly even for the young one. Used garlic chives and a cut up tomato. Do not skimp on the cream, I rarely measure cream when I make pasta, this is a great amount for a creamy pasta. We used 1/2 whippping cream and 1/2 coffee cream, delicious. The young redneck even took a pic, our camera is bad, but he likes your pasta:) Thanks Maui.

Avon's End of Summer Sunday Morning Peach Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
made this yesterday, had company for supper so I wowed them-somthing new was needed. No pressure put on Avon at all. I whipped this together, the smell as it baked was heavenly. I had the windows open and everyone entered the house asking "what smells soooo good?" The peach cake was fabulous, served it with ice cream. So good! Great texture and with the steal cut oats and WW flour, it felt healthy to me:) Great recipe, Avon. Original review, August 2010

Pollo Oaxaca

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
well Avon you never disappoint. The dish was very tasty, did I sub, well of course. I can't find tomatillos so I read that a sub would be salsa verde (that was still Greek to me) so I found a recipe on here, Mexican salsa verde and I had all the ingredients. I used celery in place of cilantro-sorry had to-and I served it with ww pasta topped with salsa, avacado, some of the sauce from the chicken, black olives and bit of shredded cheese. So good. I wanted more but had to leave the kitchen. Good thing I took pics so I could hop on the computer to review this and refrain from seconds. Will make again, Gitano says I should be able to find canned tomatillos, I might try that but the fresh sub was good too

Frozen Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2011
I like these cookies, a bit time consuming but most things that are great are worth the wait. Regular ice cream scoop makes 24 cookies, giving 12 large sandwiches. I baked them until they poofed then fell. I set the filling in the freezer to set up before spreading on the cookie (may have added a little more strawberries, I did not measure) 1/3 of the cream filling I made with cocoa powder instead of strawberries. Great fun snack to enjoy with the family on hot days

Chocolate Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

Awesome, delicious cookies. Easy to make and the dark chocolate flavour is second to none. I had a few mishaps, but rather than write a novel of a review, they filled a blog. Thanks for the recipe, Marianne, love it!!

P.M.S. (pineapple, mango smoothie)

I love the name of this, made it this morning for breakfast and true to my tweaking I used peach yogurt. I think adding a dash of coconut rum and drink as needed would calm the ailments XOXO

Strawberry Ribbon Bread

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
this bread was good, I did not add the food colouring and I used fresh berries. I sliced 3 cups of berries, added 2t of sugar and let them sit for 1/2 hour, then continued with the recipe. It was moist and tastes better as it sits. Made this yesterday, enjoy it more today.

Italian Style Brunch Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
These were great, I knew my boys would love them-they are pizza flavoured. After making the first batch and tasting them, I added a little more Italian spice (preference) then I fried them in long stips rather than pancakes. When they cooled I cut the strips in half lengthwise-perfect dipping fingers. Sent them for lunch with a side of pizza sauce-tomato paste, chicken broth, Italian spice, parmesean cheese, and garlic. I will make again, thanks for the recipe

Big Bear Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
we liked this stew, I fried the meat in a pot, so when I added water, it would get all the brown bits stuck in the pan. Since we were given this meat, not harvested by us, I was unsure how old it was and how it was prepared, so I added 1 T of vinegar to the water. This tenderizes the meat while cooking and does not leave a vinegary taste. Also added the salt at the end.
