Hasselback Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2014
I will admit that i am no chef here... But i followed the directions and the recipe was not a success. They took a long time to cook fully. And even when they finished, they were not a hit in my home. I think if the were cooked under foil for the first half, maybe that would have helped.

Old Fashioned Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
Super easy, and quite good. I added cinnamon, omitted rasins and rather than vanilla extract, I split and scraped a half vanilla bean into the mixture. I cooked it. I did not use milk and sugar, rather, I used sweetened condensed. Substituted half and half for the milk to be beaten with the egg. Oh, and i guess i forgot to put salt! I guess I didn't really follow this recipe! I just used it as more of a guideline! How can one go wrong with all these carbs and sugar? It tastes great.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
i am not a person who enjoys ground beef--neither eating it or even worse: touching it! But I made this today and it was really quite great. everyone ate it, and liked it. yes, it is a bit salty, so what i did was added no salt to the mashed potatoes and that kinda balanced it out a bit. i would make it again. i cant believe how easy and foolproof it is!!!

Tender Barbecued Chicken

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
This was not a great success in my kitchen. I cooked it for the 8 hours (5 chicken thighs) and maybe used only half a bottle of sauce. it was sorta like chicken jerky. kinda ok I guess, but not what I was hoping for.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
there cannot be a simpler cake to make! and t is super delicious. as many others noted, the thin batter is a bit alarming, but it bakes up incredibly. i did mine in a 9x13 and it was so perfect. i literally had no time to make a cake, and this one was about 7 mins to mix up. 35 mins in the oven. no time to frost, so i cut a stencil of a pine tree, and dusted a generous amount of powdered sugar over the cake. it was a huge hit. ****** i used a full cup of cocoa, a tad more oil, and of course an extra teaspoon of vanilla!******** I will not buy a cake mix again. i already memorized this recipe, and loooove it!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
I added grated cold butter (1/2 stick) a splash of milk, used 3 lg cloves pressed garlic, some spices, oregano and fine diced onion...about 1/4 of an onion. then i baked them for 25 mins at 400 on a rack to drain the fat out. it was great. i just used a jar of sauce!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Wow! This cake is wonderful. The only deviation was my usual of adding far more vanilla than called for! And I baked it in a square pan rather than round. I use only fresh eggs from a lady in the neighborhood, which might have something to do with the fluffiness, but wow, this recipe was beautiful to make. The batter was amazingly fluffy and made a huge amount. We ate this for dessert after our Easter dinner...served it warm with whipped cream. I baked it longer than 55 mins, but I think it may be due to pan size. It separated perfectly out of the pan. It was soooo beautiful and so delicious, and super easy!!! This cake would make a great gift or to take to the office.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
perfectly delicious, and super easy. I used some of the hot pudding (just before boil) to add to a cup of hot milk with vanilla extract to make a hot chocolate drink. mixed to a ratio of half milk, half pudding....Just lovely. A good way to get some calcium!
