About this Cook
I'm a bit of a new cook, and by that I mean that anything I can make comes out of a box with instructions... and I have been known to even screw those up! My interests including snowboarding (mostly), concerts, camping, yoga (when I have time/money), piercings, and apparently now, improving myself in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
Well macaroni and cheese is probably my forte. My boyfriend says I can make Kraft Mac n Cheese like its no one's business. But I'm hoping to find something a little more interesting to be my favorite thing to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmmm.... well growing up my brother and I had such diverse tastes (meaning I didn't want to eat anything he wanted, and he didn't want to eat anything I wanted) that my mother got fed up with trying to please us and left us to fend for ourselves in the kitchen. My dad always cooked for himself, so I grew up on Ramen noodles and microwave dinners. It's really shocking that I don't weigh 300 pounds now!

Hopefully this box will be full someday... ;o)
My cooking tragedies
One time I was making macaroni and cheese aaaand I added the butter and milk to the pasta before I drained it. That was kind of pathetic.

Pad Kee Mao
Twas pretty fantastic. I doubled the garlic because me and my roommate are garlic fanatics. The rice noodles proved to be a bit of a pain but I googled ways to speed up the process a bit and it was recommended to boil water and use a metal strainer-thingy to dip the dry noodles in for a minute or so until they are soft. Otherwise the flavor was great and it was very well received by my roommate and my boyfriend.

Easy Garlic Chicken
I used this recipe for one of my first attempts at real cooking and it turned out great. I doubled the garlic because I saw someone suggest that and I'm a huge garlic fanatic, and even AFTER doubling the garlic the garlic flavor STILL could have been stronger, but either way it was delicious and the breading turned out perfect. Spooning the leftover sauce over the chicken added some great extra flavor as well.
