Time is flying by.  In just a little over eight weeks the Middle of the Midwest Roundup will be happening.  June 6th, 7th and 8th you are invited to join the fun and festivities here at my house.  Friday evening for the early arrivals there will be happy hour with an array of hors d'oeuvres.  Saturday a BBQ lunch will be served and leftovers available for dinner.  Sunday a brunch will be served for all those still here complete with farm fresh free range organic eggs.  I can say that now since our local feed store started carrying organic non gmo feed.  My girly birds don't seem to be too impressed on way or the other but they sure do give me some lovely eggs for breakfast.  If you are interested in coming contact me at cathillcafe@yahoo.com and head your email "roundup" and I will be more than happy to give you all the necessary information.

And for those noticing, I did not include pizzas made in our wood burning pizza oven on the Fri menu.  Until the DH does some fine tuning to it, I am not using it again!  A shame really since the first pizza he tried out of it, I got this compliment, "that's as good as the pizzas at Pizza Shoppe."  It's a regional thing.  This place has really great pizza crust and I have tried over the years to get a crust made at home like it.  And yes, Lucky Noodles and Magnolia Blossom he got the one without sand.

So if you are interested in coming please let me know.  The past four years have always been filled with interesting people, fun conversation and of course great food.

See ya then!

Darn, I wish you were closer! I will have to settle, once again, for being there in spirit, but I know everyone will have fun and eat like royalty. Even this NY pizza snob is impressed with your pizza oven.

About Me
I live in the middle of the U.S. in a farming communtiy. Gardening, reading and cooking are the things you'll mostly find me doing. I also enjoy horseback riding & my many pets. A husband & teen, I have 1 of each.
My favorite things to cook
Bread & BBQ are 2 of my favorite things to cook. I do enjoy a food challenge. Last year it was curing my own brisket for Corned beef & pastrami & porkloin for Canadian bacon. This year sausages & scratch cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Bread and brittle. I learned to bake bread with my Mom. It was her favorite thing to make. My Aunt made the best peanut brittle ever. She'd stopped making it in the later years but when I told her how much I enjoyed her brittle, she opened the vault ,gave me the recipe & handed over the brittle torch to me.
My cooking triumphs
Anything that turns out the way I wanted it to or exceeds my expectations! Like my homemade bratwurst.
My cooking tragedies
Let's not go there! I prefer not to think about my kitchen disasters besides my child can gleefully recount all of them.
