Shiny Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
oh yes - this is perfect! I divided the frosting into three bowls after mixing and in one I put lemon extract and another got orange extract (just a teaspoon or so). So I had regular, lemon and orange flavored sugar cookies in the end. My kids loved loved them and I am now on my second double batch of the holiday season. I did add a little more milk but I think it's just a question of consistency when frosting. One batch was thinner but it got hard and shiny all the same. I didn't mess with using a brush or anything to frost the cookies - just spooned the frosting on top. Yeah, it got a little runny but it was all good.

No Roll Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
I have tried many sugar cookie recipes over the years in search of one worthy of actually writing down for my recipe box. This is it. There is no point in doing the extra work of rolling sugar cookies when you can just do this and they taste so good and look so good. I found a great recipe for shiny frosting that gets hard here on All Recipes and just decorated with that. I added lemon/orange flavor to the frosting and they were just flying off the plate! The first time I made this, because I frosted them, I dipped glass in water and pressed flat (no sugar on the outside)and it was fine. I always use Crisco for shortening and I recommend that strongly. Also used butter not margarine. These freeze extremely well - just pop them, frosting and all, in little zipper freezer bags and take out as needed.

Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
This stuff is to die for! Perfect. Yes, strawberry freezer jam is nice and easy BUT ... THIS stuff is so much more flavorful. I will never go back to my lazy ways .... now I just have to plant lots of rhubarb!

Strawberry Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
Very very tasty. I didn't have whole wheat flour so I just used all white. And I sprinkled some white sugar on the tops before baking. (also used fresh-picked strawberries). They were dense but in a very pleasant way. Not too sweet but with a lovely zing from the lemon.

Chrissy's Sweet 'n' Sour Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
This was a wonderful salad. You gotta like tomatoes of course but if you do, this is the best. The dressing is delightful - get some fresh Italian bread and dip the bread in the dressing ... yum! It was a bit heavy on the onions but either I got onion that weren't sweet enough or I used too many. I would definitely make it again. I think it would make a great dish-to-pass.
