Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
Excellent! Made this for Thanksgiving at the deer lease and it was perfect! The only thing I added was onions and celery to the cavity. When we warmed it up later for leftovers I poured some melted butter over it to add some moistness to it that may have been lost and it was great this way as well! Thank you!

A great breakfast alternative! The toast cooks up more like a custard in the center but very tasty! Thanks for the recipe!

Jimmy Dean Sausage Cheese Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
These are perfect! The ease of making them even makes them better! I made some exactly as written and others without the celery and onion and both are awesome. I will always keep some of these in the freezer from now on. They are perfect for breakfast, appetizers or a snack anytime. YUM!

Little Meat Loaves

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
This is a great recipe for meatloaf! We all enjoyed it. I did make a few minor changes. I chopped up some bell pepper, garlic and onion and sauteed it in olive oil until tender and then mixed into the meat mixture. My family likes the taste of onions and peppers in recipes but we do not like the crunch of them. I also omitted the brown sugar all together and mixed a small amount of the ketchup mixture into the meat loaf as well. YUM! I had to tell my daughter that it was"italian meat casserole with spaghetti sauce on top" (she will not even try meat loaf if she knows what it is and she ate an entire loaf by herself!!! I then confessed to the lie but she still gave it 5 stars! Thanks for the recipe!

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
I am not sure what I do wrong with this recipe but I have tried to make it three different times and can never get it to stiffen up...the liquid has a good flavor but I can never serve it because it is just a pie shell with liquid in it...

D's Skillet Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2004
This is a good basic recipe. I have been making gravy this way for years the only thing I do differently is I use bacon and fry it and not only use the drippings but I fry the bacon pretty crispy and crumble it up and throw it in there too.

Goulash Supreme

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2004
I made a ton of changes to this but I give it 4 stars because it is a perfect recipe for a night when you do not have much time and you need to use something you already have onhand. I mixed a chub of pork sausage in with the ground beef and I added 3 chopped cloves of garlic, 1 tsp of garlic powder (we love garlic), 2 cans of chopped tomatoes instead of the stewed ones plus 2 cans of tomato sauce and 1 can of green chilis and cooked until brown and onions tender. I did not cook the pasta with the meat. I mixed it all together at the end. Overall a good recipe for when you need to just throw something together.

Easy Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2004
I cooked this recipe tonight and wanted to post right away before I forgot something. I cannot imagine cooking this the way it is BUT I will say that it is a very good base recipe to "create your own" casserole. To cut back on time I took some chicken that was already cooked and cooked it in butter with some chopped garlic, onion, pimentos (would have used red bell pepper but did not have it) and mushrooms. I set that aside and mixed 2 cans of cream of chicken with 1 cup of sour cream and about half a cup of milk to thin it up some. I mixed a ton of seasonings in this (garlic salt, onion powder, Ms. Dash, thyme, pepper). I then mixed a large can of mixed vegetables, a can of peas, a can of green beans, and a can of corn into the chicken mixture. Then I combined the soup mixture into the vegetable mixture and added some sharp cheddar cheese. I did as others suggested and mixed melted butter into the crackers before spreading them on top. With all of the additions this is a lot like a quick chicken pot pie without the crust. Fun to jazz up and a good way to get the kids to eat veggies.

Pasta e Fagioli II

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2004
This recipe was the best! I loved this! I did make a few changes but overall left it basically the same. I did not have any ham on hand so I fried some bacon and chopped it up instead. I also added some ground chuck in it ( my family is a meat family so I thought it would need a bit more than bacon). I did use the tomato juice but I also added some chopped tomatos. I love the flavor and will be making this over and over. Thank you for such a wonderful soup!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2002
I made this for thanksgiving and it was the best. I had picked up crushed cloves instead of whole cloves by accident and was too scared to use it, afraid that i would use too much so I decided not to use it at all and this was by far the best ham I have ever eaten! Thank you so much! I did use a spiral sliced ham and there is no way to tell the difference between this one and the famous honeybaked hams! WONDERFUL!
