About this Cook
My husband is South American from Lima, Peru. I was born in Chicago, IL but my father is from Central America, El Salvador and my mother from Puerto Rico.
My favorite things to cook
Our favorite things to cook are things from our countries. Empanadas, anticuchos, pupusas, arroz con pollo y gandules. We also cook Indian, Italian, Thai, Japanese, and Mediterranean foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking tradition is my father's famous Salvadoran turkey for Christmas. The flavor of the turkey is like no other and it's juice not dry. My husband's favorite family cooking traditions when he was younger was his grandmother's famous Peruvian cakes and her lasagnia.
My cooking triumphs
Our cooking triumphs would be mastering the flavors of different countries. We can go to a restaurant and guess what spices and ingredients they use. We actually have a great palate.
My cooking tragedies
My cooking tragedies are when I'm baking. I guess I'm not so much of a bakery but only a cooker. My husband's cooking tragedies was when he tried to make the Peruvian chicken soup.

Flan I
Firstly Flan doesn't originately come from Mexico. It's actually Spanish from Spain, look it up. In Latin America, flan is popular, and many local versions exist, including the Flan napolitano from Mexico, flan de coco from Costa Rica and the widespread flan de leche, often eaten with cream. If you really want the true tasty check "Creamy Caramel Flan" recipe sorry JessicaDez but your recipe is too dry.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)
OMG! This was amazing! Everyone enjoyed it! It does taste like the original Honduran Tres Leches (this cake originated in Honduras but most Latin American countries serve this desert). The only change I would make would be to elimiate the 1 cup of milk. But overall this is the best recipe I have found. Thank you and enjoy!
