Pecan Turtles® Bars

These were very tasty little cookie bars, but next time I think some adjustments will be necessary. I made the recipe exactly as written. A few more pecans might be nice (that's personal taste, of course), and the bottom layer crumbles as you munch. If the cookie held together a little better, all would be well! :)

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

This is an extraordinarily delicious loaf. Made this in the Zojirushi 2lb bread maker on the 'basic wheat' setting. I adjusted the yield to 16 servings from 12 to accomodate the larger machine, used butter in place of shortening, and instead of dried milk powder, I substituted 1/2 cup of the water with whole milk. The flour used was Daisy Flour's whole wheat Warthog bread flour. This is one of the best breads I have ever experienced. The crust is perfectly crisp and brown, and the inside is a beautifully fine texture. The flavor is brilliant, and the bread seems absurdly versatile. Great for breakfast with a little jam, perfect for sandwiches (the sweetness of the honey is subtle enough not to overpower any toppings), and just tried it with a bit of nutella- dessert works too! Thank you for this recipe!!!

Simple Baked Apples

I used this recipe to the letter- it's brilliant. It makes my home smell almost as good as this wonderful dish tastes. I've made the recipe several times, (it works each and every one) and a couple times I've even left the peels on the apples, which is also delightful if you don't have time for peeling!

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

Due to a shortage of pumpkin at the local grocery store, I substituted mashed canned sweet potatoes for the pumpkin. It turned out fabulous! I will definitely make this again- I'd love to try it with the pumpkin. I recommend this substitution, though, even if you can find the pumpkin!

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa

This Salsa is a beautiful thing. We broiled slices of french bread for about 3 minutes and served it on top- like a festive bruschetta! Also good as a sandwich between two slices of toast.
