Spicy Maryland Crab Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
i absolutely LOVE old bay and the old bay in this recipe is WAY too much. Based off the reviews of others, I reduced the 2 tablespoons it called for to 1.5 and it was still incredibly salty. I added a little extra sour cream and cream cheese to try to save the dip from being ruined. Despite the saltiness, I will definitely make this again but with only 1 tablespoon next time. Otherwise, I did like the recipe. I mixed all of the ingredients (reserving a little of the cheese for the top) and put it into a sourdough bread bowl. I wrapped it in foil and baked it in the oven on 325 for 20 minutes. I then added a little extra cheese and took the foil cover off the top so the cheese would melt. I put it back in the oven for another 5 minutes just to let the cheese melt. Overall, it was a huge hit at my party. With a couple adjustments, will definitely make it again!

Weeknight Lasagne Toss

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
LOVED this dish. I made a couple adjustments to make it a little heathier - I used lean ground turkey meat instead of beef. I used reduced fat cheese and reduced fat ricotta - honestly, couldnt tell the difference! Also, I followed some of the other users suggestion to add a little more garlic, as well as basil and oregano. Everything turned out perfectly.. will definitely make this one again!

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
GREAT RECIPE! I listened to many reviewers and seasoned the filets with salt and fresh ground pepper and let them rest out of the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes. THEN, I cooked them in a hot pan, except I didn't cook them in the sauce because I have never believed in cooking such a fantastic cut of meat in sauce. For the sauce, I mixed the balsamic vinegar (the better the quality, the better the sauce will turn out), red wine (used Merlot) and a generous pinch of brown sugar. Let it reduce and then served in little sauce cups alongside the filets. By allowing it to reduce, it was a little bit thicker. Will definitely make this again! It was very very easy and my boyfriend LOVED it!

Roasted New Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
These were SUPER EASY to make and absolutely DELICIOUS. My boyfriend loved them! I made two small modifications to the recipe 1) i included a pinch of garlic powder in the salt and pepper mixture and 2) I put the potatoes in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes before putting them in the oven to speed up the cooking process. I kept my eye on the potatoes and took them out after about 15 minutes. I made these with grilled asparagus, filet mignon, and a reduced balsamic sauce. Will definitely make this again!

Garlic Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2010
This turned out realllyyy well. My only changes were to double the sauce, keep in the garlic, and only use about a half cup of bread crumbs. Definitely be sure to add the bread crumbs in slowly, as the sauce thickens pretty very quickly otherwise.

Blackened Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2010
This recipe was extremely easy and delicious. I followed the cooking directions exactly... my only changes were in accordance with one of the other reviewers - I doubled all the spices but I left the dried (I used ground) thyme at 1/4 teaspoon. After cooking it in a smoking hot pan for 1 minute on each side, I let the chicken cook for 11 minutes in the oven. I probably could've taken it out at 9-10 minutes but I wanted to make sure the chicken was waiting for the juices to run. The chicken was extremely moist and flavorful! I think this would be perfect to serve with corn and roasted or mashed potatoes. This is definitely a recipe I'll be making again and again!

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
SO quick and easy! My boyfriend loved these! In line with the suggestiongs of other reviewers, I made the following additions: 1) 1/2 can of diced tomatoes and green chilies 2) 1 tsp ground chili powder 3) 1 tsp ground cumin. Additionally I used pickeled jalepenos instead of fresh because that's what I had on hand. This turned out very spicey. We topped with cheddar cheese and a little sour cream to tone down the spice.. it was delicious!

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
This turned out pretty well. It was very easy and the ingredients were pretty simple. As many other reviewers mentioned, the sauce should be doubled. Additionally, I used a little less butter and topped it off some fresh grated parmesan cheese after plating. I would DEFINITELY recommend that.

Vanilla Crepes

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
Easy and delicious! The only thing that I did differently was use 3 whole eggs instead of just the yolks. It turned out perfectly! Tips: (1) turn down the heat to medium-low after making the first couple because the pan gets hot and starts to cook the crepes too quickly, and (2) sift the flour. Great when filled with strawberries, blue berries.. topped with powdered sugar and a little whip cream!

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
These were very easy.. I followed the recipe exactly. I don't have a slow cooker so I made it on my stove top. I think the next time I'll add some extra herbs and spices to the meat balls and use less onion.

Fantastic Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly.. it was obviously very easy to make...the results were tasty but definitely not delicious. The level of spice was pretty good but probably not enough for people who really like heat. Overall, it lacked the "god that hits the spot" or "wow" factor.. and my family and I usually love all forms of chili so this was a bit of a disappointment.

Salmon with Fruit Salsa

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
A very fresh and healthy tasting dish. I've made this twice now and the first time i was a little nervous of using 2 jalapeños because my mom really can't do spicy food so I only used one and absolutely no spice or heat could be tasted. The second time i used both jalapeños and its was MUCH better. The heat really wasn't much but it was just enough to give the dish a little zing. Will definitely be making this again!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
These were great and so easy. I scaled the recipe down for two servings and it made more than enough. The only thing I added was a splash of milk (maybe one and a half teaspoons). Also, instead of chopped garlic I used a bit less dried minced garlic because that's all i had. I reduced the amount of dried garlic tends to have a stronger flavor. Also, I reduced the amount of butter by 1/3 to make it a bit healthier..my boyfriend LOVED it! Will definitely be making these again

These were tasty but really nothing special. An extremely unhealthy way to prepare veggies. I may try them again but i'll reduce the butter and add some salt and pepper.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
These were delicious. I used a regular baking sheet because thats all I had. I would HIGHLY recomment putting the batter/dough in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes after mixing everything because it's much easier to roll the dough into balls when they are cooler (otherwise the peanut butter sticks to your hand and is rather hard to work with). Also, I used reduced fat peanut butter.. no one could tell the difference!
