Baking Nana has a new home.......

I have not been around much lately.  My apologies.  I do stop in to read the blogs and scroll through the posts on the Buzz but I have been busy, busy, busy!   I am not leaving AR nor have I had my hands slapped for my blog and I am still an Allrecipes Ambassador.  But I have decided to take my blog off site and create a "home" of my own.

As you know I am passionate about our food supply and food safety.  Although I have always felt welcomed and supported here it was time for me to build my own soap box.

Hence -  has just launched.  It is still VERY much under development - but it is a start and I am learning a great deal along the way.

I don't know exactly which direction this will go - hopefully a good balance of recipes and cooking coupled with thoughts on our food supply and food safety.

You are most welcome to stop by and say hi - it is my hope that it will be a place for good conversation and sharing of thoughts and ideas.

I have tried (and am STILL) trying to make it  as user friendly as possible.  Your first comment will be moderated and once that is approved, your posts will be posted live.  You can comment on not only my post but also directly onto someones comment.

I don't have a subscribe button installed yet - maybe tomorrow - hopefully you will by and say hello and have a chat.

To stay up with my adventures join me on facebook and give me a "Like" or on the site.  Let me know what think.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your support,
Baking Nana aka Penny

BN: I took a look at your new website. I couldn't quite figure out how to write a Comment, but I'll keep trying.

Good morning bikerfamily. Thanks for the feedback - there is a comment bubble right next to the title of the posts. On other blogs I had trouble finding out how to comment too - I thought the bubble might be a good option but I guess it isn't clear. I will look at other options. Thank you.

I see the bubble for the Chinese Chicken but not for the first post Risky Business.

Well done BN! The photo of your Scallops look Devine! I will be "pulling up that chair to chat" along with you. Congratulations!

Good morning Fiesta Lady - I set that first post on the page to no comments as it really just wanted an intro to Risky Business. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Candice - thanks! Those scallops were delicious and I am really happy with that picture. Actually I have found that it has been swiped off of AR and used in numerous blogs. Sigh.... Thanks for stopping by the blog and leaving a comment - it is much appreciated. I still have lots of work to do there!

I posted a comment, but I assume it has to be approved. The comment disappears. So, sorry if I posted twice.

Hi Lela - no problem. I approved it so now you won't have to wait. Thanks for stopping in.

I haven't been by yet. The weather here has given lovely produce from the garden to preserve. And as always there are weeds :)

About Me
Every morning my granddaughter calls and says, "Good morning Nana. Whatcha doing? Are you baking Nana?" Hence my name, Baking Nana. I love to bake bread and never get tired of it. Yeast is additive! Visit me at If you would like to contact me directly please use the 'Contact Me' on my site.
My favorite things to cook
I go through phases, Asian for a while then Italian then on to something else. I love experimenting with new flavors and different spices. Some times my husband will ask if we will ever have "ordinary" food again. Once in a while I have to toss him a burger just to keep quite! Actually, he is a good sport and my favorite taste tester.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In our family if it is your birthday you get to choose the menu. We have had some really interesting meals. In March we have 5 birthdays so we do one big party - what a crazy menu that is! Christmas dinner is very traditional. Sausage rolls, Prime Rib, Yorkshire Pudding, gravy, Green beans with bacon, Mashed Potatoes (the really fattening kind) and trifle for dessert. If I were to dare to omit any of those items I would be lynched.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering really great bread is probably my biggest triumph. I am always so pleased when I create a perfect Asian dish.
My cooking tragedies
There have been a few but none so horrible that I can't laugh about them now.
