Apple Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2011
Utterly simple and utterly delicious. I can't believe how many people have asked what is in this dip. Like other reviewers, using a mixer really helps with the lumps. This is on the short list for appetizers!

Creamed Eggs on Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
Eggs Goldenrod. I skipped chicken boullion (it's made of yucky stuff), but added 2 slices of cheese into the melting mix and a shake of garlic and/or onion powder. I used toasted english muffins and spooned the eggwhite mix onto the muffins, topped with the crushed egg yolks. Sprinkle with paprika. Voila.!

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Really enjoyed this. FYI ..The recipe doesn't make enough for 6 unless they are small portions.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
Had fresh snap peas from the garden and sliced green onions, layed (raw) on top of cooked chicken in the serving bowl. Like other reviewers, I waited to pour on the thickened sauce til I right before serving. I had a little difficulty turning all those pieces of chicken in the pan, but it was worth it. I had bought some boxed frozen orange chicken a month before and it can't even compare to the flavor in this dish.

Strawberry Spinach Salad II

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
The whole family enjoyed the combination of flavors. This is a nice change from the usual salad line-up.

Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
Can't get enough of this! I increased the basil, as others have recommended. I used basil from my garden. I've used it as a spread for grilled chicken sandwiches and a pesto pizza w/tomatoes and mozzerella. But the pine nuts are so expensive!

Scott's Coast-to-Coast Famous Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
TIP: It takes a lo-oong time to heat one gallon of oil to 375. Factor this into your cooking time! The results were quite tasty. They didn't turn out as crispy as when I get them at restaurants tho. Also, peanut oil is pretty expensive and I saved the oil to use again. The second time I made these, I decreased the amount of butter in the sauce. These are wings for folks serious about making them authentically.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
Quite yummy. I messed up and bought biscuits in the can, but I pieced them together and made it work. Somehow I actually managed to braid it and it looked nice too.

Pesto Cheesy Chicken Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
Good for a special meal, since it's a lot of work to trim, pound out, and roll. I used a lot of toothpicks to keep them together. I dipped mine in egg then dredged through crumbs.

New England Clam Chowder I

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
I nuked the cubed potatoes to speed things along. Substitute clam broth for the water. Just right with a shake of chipotle in your bowl.

Chicago-Style Hot Dog

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
This is how we've always made them for this Chicago-suburb gal's family. As a military family, I get lots of reactions to some of these toppings, but this is how they should be eaten!

Flank Steak Pinwheels

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
Lots of flavor! It was a bit frustrating trying to roll it up, I think my steak was only about a pound. Despite using a meat mallet to flatten, there wasn't as much to wrap around the yummy insides. I had to tie it was regular twine (how many of you really have kitchen twine?) The marinade really made a difference.

Ken's Perfect Hard Boiled Egg (And I Mean Perfect)

Perfect. Even following my Betty Crocker cookbook, I couldn't get them right. Now I have a secret I can pass on to my girls.

Pot Roast, Vegetables, and Beer

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
This was great! Time constraints had me, brown meat and then put in crock pot. I didn't have dark beer, but the results were still moist and yummy. I'm looking forward to eating the leftovers. 31 May 2012 Still don't own a dutch oven, but I did buy porter for the recipe. Worked great in the crockpot after searing the roast in a fry pan. Still fabulous.

Czech Roast Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
4 1/2 stars. I added (drained) jarred sauerkraut around the roast. Mmmm and served with store bought pierogis. Yum. 14 March 2011 I heated up the left overs of this roast tonight. I can't remember for the life of me why I hadn't given it the full 5 stars. This is going to be my go-to European-style pork roast from now on!

Chimichurri Sauce for Steaks

Use breath mints after eating! Holy-Garlic-breath this was good, but it stuck with me for hours. Any one have ideas how to use the extra sauce? I had a lot left over.

4 eaters rated this yum. Used lime juice not lemon and thinnly sliced the beef before accordian-style skewering and grilling.

Garlic Dill New Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
I really wanted the fresh dill to shine, so I doubled the amount and added a spash of white wine with the melted butter. Then stirred in the potatoes. Great. July 1 2013 Made again. Fresh garlic is strong in the sauce. I recommend putting it the butter as it is melted. I also still like to double the dill.
