About this Cook
I'm 17 years old. I just graduated a year early from highschool. I live deep in the heart of Texas. I love all things centered around the home. I love growing my own vegetables and herbs to put into my personal recipes. :]
My favorite things to cook
I love Mexican food and Italian food. I find myself cooking pastas a great deal. I'm starting to get a greater intuition about flavors. I have been cooking for myself a couple years, and it's one of my passions, so I'm willing to try new things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and her mother seem to have a natural talent at cooking. I like to take recipes from them. I inherited a collection of recipes from my great grandmother when I was younger, and I've started collecting recipes for myself. If someone is willing to teach me a recipe I love to accept them, so I'll have even more to pass down for my daughters.
My cooking triumphs
I'm best at making spaghetti, it is my specialty.
My cooking tragedies
I can't yet make hard candy. The first and last time I tried, it went horribly wrong.

Pasta with Tomato and Bacon
I used fresh tomatoes because I didn't have stewed (makes a difference in the flavor, stewed is what you should use), and a red onion. I was looking for the bacon-tomato flavor, and something quick to cook. It was quite good for that. The smokier the bacon, the better the flavor. The cheese adds some saltiness. The sauce is good, lighter than traditional bolgnese. The broken bacon pieces could be added at the end with the cheese.
