About this Cook
First of all, I am always learning new things. I keep an open mind about almost everything( we all have our things we have strong beliefs about).I like to keep my home cooked foods as close to natural as I possibly can. I never use boxed ingredients with preservatives. And although I see "fast and easy" recipes on sitea, you won't convince me of that.if you use pre- packaged, processed foods.I Almost never use canned goods. And most always fresh, or frozen vegetables or fruits.I am cooking a lot now with oils like coconut and olive. I have been a nurse for 28 years.I lived through the years when Grams made everything from scratch and Mom used everything out of the box. I prefer from scratch. It's just plain healthier.I have been watching and studying dietary effects on the body for more years than I have been in nursing. It is an intersesting hobby for me. You can help heal yourself and KEEP yourself healthy by watching what is going in to your body.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook healthy, tastey dishes. I know I have done well when no one notices that the fat, calories, sodium, etc. has been nipped!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big family dinners. Lots of friends and impromptu gatherings. All of us cooking together.Inventing new and different dishes together.
My cooking triumphs
Experimenting, creating, thinking outside the box. Always cooking w/ healthy ingredients. The closer to home grown, fresh ingredients that I possibly can. Nothing added from a box or bag, or pre-made. Always FRESH.NO preservatives.
My cooking tragedies
One time, I made a soup from leftover turkey. It was horrible. They still don't let me forget!!!

Rolled Dumplings
My daughter and I had a great time making these. They are so simple. We had butter flavored shortening, added some cracked pepper and onion powder. Delicious! They need to be cut thin if you want a noodle -like dumpling ( as she states, 1/8"). We are originally from the North so we don't mind the thicker 'dumpling'. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us. We were on a Sunday cooking roll!!

Seminary Muffins
I have tried it twice. They are healthy and delicious. I cannot use walnuts. I use sunflower seeds and craisins. We top with a little sweetened coconut or torbinado sugar or the sunflower seeds!!
