About this Cook
I live in Amarillo, TX with my wonderful husband and our super cute pooch, Jasper. I recently started a food blog...check it out! www.thestubbiechef.wordpress.com
My favorite things to cook
Anything that I create by throwing whatever I can find in the pantry and fridge into a pan or the oven.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Memom (grandmother) cooked with whatever she had in the house and would make these wonderful meals. I had the pleasure of living with her on 2 occasions and picked up on this skill. My husband finds these throw together meals much better than the ones that I plan out and follow a recipe!
My cooking triumphs
Anything that I make and my husband requests a repeat or says "this is a keeper!"
My cooking tragedies
The very first time I had ever made a pecan pie was for Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house. When I put in the pecans as stated in the recipe I thought, "surely this recipe is typed wrong, I think I need to add more pecans." Mind you, I don't even like pecan pie so I had no idea that the pecans "float" to the top of the pie when cooked. Thank goodness we thought to put it on a cookie sheet because her oven would have been a mess! We still served it, and my uncle actually asked me to make it again, with the extra pecans, for Christmas.

Apple Fritters II
It was not at all what I was hoping...it was like a pancake filled with apples...my husband liked them a lot, however, I thought it would crisp up more than it did...probably operator error and not the recipe itself...I added a tsp and a half of Apple Pie Spice since a few suggested cinnamon.

Bagel and Cheese Bake
It wasn't bad. I don't know what I was expecting because it tastes just like a breakfast casserole that I make with english muffins so I was a tad disappointed, but that has nothing to do with this recipe. I gave it 3 stars, because it was good, but didn't have the "wow" factor.
