About this Cook
Mourning the loss of my father and trying to find other things to keep my attention. Currently obsessing over cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything someone requests or anything unusual. I loved cooking for my father, and when he had the whipple due to pancreatic cancer, he couldn't eat much. Still, he sent me to the store to make whatever he desired, and he was very thankful. He asked for german chocolate cake, his favorite, and it took a long time to make. He ate about a tablespoon becaue he was so sick, but he still loved it. Cancer took away everything he loved, his work, golf, traveling, but even through his illness he was still able to enjoy food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom cooked big meals. I loved when my father grilled beef and chicken kabobs. Every once in a while we would go crabbing, and we would cook fresh crab. It was delicious.
My cooking triumphs
I remember when I was younger I told my mom I wanted to try to make some minestrone soup like the one a popular restaurant carries. I found ingredients around the house, and to her suprise it was amazing. I had a couple of other lucky triumphs at around 15. I became interested in cooking, and I am creative. It is a good mix.
My cooking tragedies
The first thing I cooked my boyfriend (now husband) was spaghetti. I boiled hard noodles, and added a can of tomatoe paste. I burnt his mom's birthday cake and cried. Then I used to cook us corn dogs. I always set the corn dog sticks on fire, and I would set the fire alarm off in our apartment. I tried to remember how Julia Roberts turned the alarm off in sleeping with the enemy, and so there I began hitting the alarm with a broom. Then I was at the neighbor's house asking for help. This was anytime I cooked corn dogs.

Butter Icing for Cookies
I should have listened to one person who said it wouldn't stick to the cookies. I had the same problem. I just finished making these for my daughters christmas party tomorrow at her school. It took forever just to do one cookie, and I had twenty four to do! I had to heavily dip the icing in water, and even then it was almost impossible to finish. As for taste, it's okay but really sweet.

Bacon Chicken I
This was so yummy! Not only that it is so easy. Someone suggested frying bacon first but I think not because I think the juices from the bacon mix with the chicken and the soup and makes it yum yum. My husband and mother loved this and so did I. This tastes so gourmet and the thing is its so simple. I was looking for a recipe with chicken that was gourmet like but didnt call for twenty ingredients. This was definitely the chosen winner. I might use more soup and bacon in soup next time to have more gravy for potatoes cuz it is so good.

White Chocolate Cream Cake
This cake turned out delicious despite my mess ups. My mom said it taste like it came from a bakery. I was a little worried as i forgot to put one half cup of the sugar flour mixture in the cake batter. Also I do not have a double boiler so i melted the white choc in microwave. I should have melted it longer because it needs to be very soft for the frosting as my frosting was a bit hard, still the cake is tremendous. Next time i want to try that wine cooler in there yummy. This was the yummiest home cooked from scratch I have ever made. Despite the messups it was so good the best ever I am fixing to make this cake for a baby shower Im making three layers light blue icing. I want it to look really nice and I know on some cakes fore the cake to turn out smooth you have to use a certain type of icing. Will this icing work? Do you know how I would also make the decorative icing that goes around the cake using the same recipe? If not ill figure something out. If you check this let me know. I love this recipe
