Mulligatawny Soup I

This soup is wonderful! Perfect for a fall, Makes the house smell great. I followed the recipe but pureed the carrots/celery/onion mix after it simmered in the broth. I used half chicken, half vegetable broth and three apples in a double batch. Left out the cream. It's a perfect soup. Will make this for years to come.

Joe's Special Scramble

I tried this tonight. Followed the recipe. Not good. Not bad, but not good. The eggs did nothing for it but my family liked the eggs the best. It seemed to lack a sauce of some sort for the ground beef mixture.

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Perfect cookies! Easy and delicious. I triple the recipe as someone suggested using one cup of each kind of sugar. They turned out perfectly for me and I a not having much luck with anything else I've tried baking this season!

Chicken and Dumplings IV

This was really good. I added herbes de provence and used some boxed chicken broth in place of part of the water. It all turned out excellent, great leftovers for lunch too! Baking mix dumplings were perfectly flavored.

Chocolate Rum Balls I

Yum! These are really good. I don't like them very strong so I used less than 1/4 cup Apple Jack Brandy (is that brandy? It was either that or Cuervo in my liquor cabinet!) and the rest of the liquid was orange juice). The flavors did not blend well until the second day but there is just enough of a hint of the alcohol combined with the chocolate. I might try Kahlua in there next time! I used gloves to roll them to save the mess.

Chicken and Dumplings III

We did not like this recipe. I made it with only small alterations--added some garlic powder and used chicken broth instead of part of the water. It just tasted too much like soup from a can. The biscuits turned out well in the crock pot. Might try using that somewhere else.

Impossible Coconut Pie I

This is great comfort food. Ingredients I had on hand (but my aking mix was over a year past Use-by date) and turns out yummy. We ate it warm. The little left in the fridge was not so good. Will get more Bisquick and keep this one in mind.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2006
Oh my goodness! These are amazing brownies. I have made them three times and they are delicious every time. I used old old old Hershey's baking chocolate the first time--only half of what was ordered (because I am an idiot and cannot always read very well). I realized the problem and made an icing (cocoa-based) and they got raves by everyone at the school party. The next time I made them with Girardelli (sp?) baking chocolate and they turned out amazing again--very rich and chocolatey. The next time I used the same chocolate and added a little Kahlua-maybe 3 Tbsp and put a glaze on again. Once again, everyone loved them. These are so so easy and the one-bowl to wash up? How can you beat that?

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Awesome is right!! My husband thought he had died and gone to heaven! Delicious gravy--worth peeling potatoes for real mashed potatoes for. May add potatoes, onions, and carrots next time.
