Aggression ( Oatmeal ) Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
We grew up making these cookies and I love them as much today as then. You can shorten the cooking time and leave them thicker for a soft cookie, or flatten them and overcook (though be careful not to burn) for a crispy cookie! Over the years we've added assorted spices to alter the taste; try a bit of cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, ginger, or maple flavoring.

Pumpkin and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
Spectacular! Just made one recipe to give it a try, success. I was surprised I could taste the sausage. I didn't find the praline liquor at the supermarket so used maple syrup as others suggested. Not wanting it too sweet I left out the brown sugar and added a dash of pumpkin pie spice and a bit of garlic. I used canned pumpkin for ease and a stick hand blender to puree in the pot. Piece of cake! Now I need to pick up the ingredients to quadruple the recipe for our Wednesday Advent service. So we bought a 20qt pot and made about 4 gallons for service. Everyone that tried it loved it! To this batch I added ground chipotle pepper to spice it a bit more.

Fantastic! Everyone loved them. I added a handful of chopped cranberries as others suggested and that worked very well.

Streusel Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
Everone loves this each time we make it. I use brown sugar in the cinnamon blend and twirl it into the mix with a fork to get a more even distribution.

Miracle Baking Powder Pie Crust

Simply unbelievable! A great easy-to-make crust that any novice like me can use with super results. We've shied away from pies because of the difficulties with crusts - but no more!

Lemon Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
I made this the first time for a bake sale at the church. The second time I made it I kept half for myself. Great tasting bread, though I baked it in a bundt pan, I'd like to find a way to 'bread' it a bit more so that it has the texture of a banana bread instead of a cake.

Cornbread Muffins I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
I used a can of corn after drainng as others suggested and everyone loved the muffins! They asked I make them again 2 weeks later and I made them last night. We were out of honey so I substituted maple syrup and they liked them even more! I don't know of the maple syrup would do well with b-b-q and beans, but it added a comforting breakfasty flavor to our eggs and bacon.

Banana Nut and Ginger Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
Fantastic! We've made this several times now for Sunday gatherings and everyone loves it. We substituted raisins the last couple times and it is even more liked (and a lot easier to prepare). We add a teaspoon of ground ginger spice for an extra kick and just use a bottle of Negro Modelo instead of the 2 cups.

Potato Salad I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
Of course I added the spices I like and Miracle Whip for half the Mayonnaise. Everyone loved it but mom, who likes a more dry traditional potatoe salad.

Cioppino

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
We prepared and served this for our daughter's birthday party. Everyone loved it! We used more clams than called for and used tomatoe slices for larger pieces and body and it came out great. Added the fish in the end as others suggested and it held together well. We will add more spices next time though, probably the Old Bay Seasoning for seafood.

Cream Cheese Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
Wow! We substituted blackberries for the blueberries since we had those in the freezer and this turned out great. It was the most sought pie at our family Christmas get-together Sunday. We used the Miracle Baking Powder Pie Crust (6th time used and super easy every time). The ingredients and setting up took place just as described and it was delicious. I'm looking forward to adapting it to pineapple and then cherries for extra special treats.
