Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This cookie is always a hit! I love that I don't have to worry about overly thin cookies anymore (the pudding mix takes care of that!) I use an electric hand mixer to work the dough. I also fridge whatever I don't have time to bake. They come out great every time!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Quick, easy and tasty. The salsa added quite a bite. I food processed 2 cans of beans and added a 3rd can of whole beans and some chopped green pepper for body and interest. Also upped the cumin to 3 teaspoons and added 1 t cayenne, 1 lime, 1 garlic clove before blending. Served with multigrain chips and a colorful salad. My husband enjoyed this a lot. Thank you.

Pasta Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
This was a zip to make, and it had a comforting flavor. I added black pepper and a few other spices to zest up the broth. Next time I will use less butter and increase the amount of spinach.

Grandpa Hubbard's Oatmeal

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2004
A good and simple recipe. I cooked up a single serving and the oatmeal came out a bit watery (used 3/4 C water and 1/4 C skim milk) and will use less water next time... and maybe thicker milk.

Daddy's Fried Corn and Onions

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2004
Amazingly simple. Received compliments on this dish. A corn per person is a good way to make sure there will be enough for everyone. I sprinkled sea salt on the corn while cooking instead of the regular granules, which makes for a nice burst of flavor every once in a while.

Fatoosh

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2004
Very tasty! Terrific with large chunks of fresh cuke and tomato. Especially since the cuke soaks up the dressing. The mint mingles well with the lemon and garlic. Pita chips with sea salt makes for a nice topping... You can make this salad last by keeping the romaine, dressing, and remainder of the ingredients in separate containers and fridge it until ready to serve. Make sure you allow the dressing time to thaw as the oil hardens when cold.

Chinese Restaurant Almond Cookies

Reviewed: May 16, 2004
I really like this cookie! It has a delicate almond flavor and is easy to make. Butter works great as a replacement. The only part that didn't work so well is that the nut on top was bland and tasteless. Next time I might toast the nuts before adding them. They look and taste great without the extra nut.

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2004
Super moist and really easy. Great recipe! I didn't have raisins on hand, but cranberries gave it the right amount of tart flavor. Plus, the toasty walnuts on top is a nice finish. I will use this one again. Thanks!

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2004
This was my first time using mashed bananas in anything and it worked out great! I combined many of the recommendations that other people made - substituting 1/2 C honey for the sugar, 1/4 C oil instead, 1 t vanilla, 1/2 t cinnamon, 1/4 t nutmeg, 1 C coconut, 1/2 t baking powder for rising, and walnuts for decoration. I also sprinkled coconut on top - makes for a great presentation! Next time I'll make sure the mashed bananas are more lumpy. Otherwise, people loved them and they were a breeze to make! Thank you everyone!

Cinnamon Pancakes in a Jar

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2002
A much thicker pancake than I'm used to cooking. I freaked out about the thickness of the batter and added an extra egg, as it looked more like cookie dough. It tastes good. I may make this one again.

Chickpea and Pasta Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2002
I made this for my boyfriend once and he absolutely adored it. Now he makes it on his own. He's a chickpea fan. Plus the aroma from the rosemary is wonderful! Be sure to chop this herb into fine bits, tho'.

No Bake Cookies I

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2002
These were smacking easy to make and they turned out very well. Soft. Though I think my oats weren't cooked all the way thru, they were tasty. It takes quite awhile for these cookies to set, even when placed in the fridge.

Butterfinger Chunkies

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2002
These cookies came out pretty tough, even when I adjusted the heat and cooking time. There wasn't enough contrast in taste with the butterfinger and peanut butter combo. They didn't float my boat.

Sweet and Spicy Nuts

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2002
This was an easy to make recipe, though I didn't get the mixture to spread over the nuts very well. I tried it a couple of times, b/c it was so easy. My friends weren't fans of it, but it's good for a change of scene. My friends and I are nut people, and I guess we prefer the salt to the sweet/spice.

Absolutely Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2001
I tried this recipe at the same time as the hootycreeks and it was a little more involved but tasty nevertheless. I liked that they were lumpy looking and chewy from the oatmeal. Instead of raisins, I used cranberries and threw in white chocolate chips for fun. However, I think they don't need the white chocolate. They're great!

Cranberry Hootycreeks

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2001
My friends really liked this cookie. The white chocolate chips were a surprise to everyone, but it worked out well with the cranberries. The cookies turned out really flat and the oatmeal was not apparent, but the cookie was yummy. Thanks!

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2001
The recipe was easy to put together, but the cooking time was too short. I used all natural peanut butter, so the cookies were just sweet enough, but they were crumbly. It just didn't work well.
