Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
I had to rate 4 bc the dough was so sticky that I had to add another full cup of flour. The taste and texture was yummy and I love that it made 2 loaves!

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2010
This cake did not turn out for me and had a rubbery texture. I didn't bother to continue with the rest of the recipe after the cake. will not use this one again.

We enjoyed this (left out ketchup due to allergies). Will add this to our rotation.

Ambrosia Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
I am not sure if it is personal taste but we thought there was just too much coconut in this. 1-1/2 cups would be plenty for us. We will also omit the spices next time.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
We enjoyed this recipe and found it easy to prepare, and was really enjoyed when we took it to a potluck dinner. We did find it salty though which is usually not a problem for us. ***making it a second time we added 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts and made it into a meal

Oat Bran Muffins

I enjoyed these but found them just a little bland. I think this is a great base recipe to spruce up to suit your needs....will add raisins and cinnamon next time.

A great way to make ahead "big breakfast" and have it on hand when you need it. I too added seasonings as it was cooking.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
I originally rated this recipe as only a 3 star....thinking that maybe I just didn't like bean burgers. HOWEVER...I stuck 2 of the burgers in the fridge and my boyfriend decided to 'remake' them by slicing them up and tossing them on the griddle on a couple tortilla shells which he sprinkled with cheese. Once melted he slapped them together and cut them up like a pie and we now enjoy them dipped in sour cream and salsa! (I still don't care for them as a burger but I think it is personal preference)

Restaurant-Style Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
I loved this recipe and will make again. I omitted the pimento (bc I didn't have any on hand) and although I used sugar the first time as written I will omit it next time as it make the salad too sweet for our liking.

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
If you are looking for the perfect moist and easy to prepare cake look no further! Ingredients were ones that I had on hand and it came together quickly. I did substitute 1 cup of coffee for the 1 cup of water bc of personal preference but this is just a common flavor variation. As others have said do not be alarmed by how watery the mixture is after adding the liquid...it does turn out! I baked this in 3x 9" pans and was impressed with how big, light and fluffy this cake was! Gone in a mere 24 hours! Straight to my favorites for sure! I think I will add some raspberry flavoring to the frosting next time...

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
These make up really fast and were tasty but seemed to lack that 'pop' I like in a lemon dessert. I think a lemon glaze might turn these into a 5 star recipe.

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
OMG! I just finished making and eating this wonderful recipe! Having grown up in NS, and worked in Donair & Pizza shop I was excited to have this small taste of home. After reading some reviews, I can not stress enough that the recipe calls for evaporated milk NOT condensed milk which is correct. To make the sauce you need to whisk the milk, garlic powder and sugar until the sugar is incorporated. Then begin whisking quickly and add the vinegar all at once and only whisk 4-5 more times and stop! If you continue to stir the sauce will liquefy. Let the sauce mixture sit and the flavors meld while you prep the sandwich. On a hot skillet fry the meat to heat and run the pita under water and heat it as well. Note that the pita, and meat are served hot, but the sauce, tomatoes, and onions are cold. There was enough sauce to garnish at least 6-7 donairs and for us the meat only made 3...so I would recommend that you at least triple the meat portion of the recipe! Thanks for a taste of home!!!!

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
I am giving this 5 stars for ease of preparation and kid appeal! We used a few chicken breasts that were precooked, and substituted original Rotel tomatoes for extra flavor. This was on the table in 10 minutes and with chips and salsa on the side to round out the meal it was a real hit!

Old-Fashioned Pink Lemonade

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
Replaced the 2 cups of sugar with 1 1/2 cups Splenda and used bottled lemon...and thought this was the perfect balance of sweet-tart. This made up very quickly and will be a regular drink especially in the warmer months! Thanks for a super simple and yummy drink!
